Will he be a Hall of Famer?

Fri February 01, 2013 6:36 pm

Since the next NFL class is unveiled tomorrow, we should get this thread going again.

Here's your list to choose from:

Larry Allen
Jonathan Ogden
Warren Sapp
Michael Strahan
Jerome Bettis
Tim Brown
Cris Carter
Andre Reed
Will Shields
Charles Haley
Kevin Greene
Aeneas Williams
Bill Parcells
Eddie DeBartolo Jr.
Art Modell

I would go with DeBartolo, Parcells, Strahan, Reed, and Ogden. I really hate leaving Haley off the list, though--I'd be fine with having Odgen wait one more year to get him in, though. The rule that there can be only a maximum of five modern day selections is so stupid.

Larry Allen was the most dominant player in the NFL for almost 10 years. How anybody could look at that list and not include him is beyond me.

Ugh, yeah, there's another tough choice. You could put him in over Odgen as well and I wouldn't complain.

Oh, and even if Kevin Green can't get in the normal Hall of Fame, he's definitely in the GIF Hall of Fame:

Allen (probably the most dominant o-linemen ever), Greene (still third on the all-time sacks list), Carter (130 TDs), Brown (almost 20,000 all-purpose yards) and Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr.

Sapp should get in.

adding to this: the fact that guys like debartolo jr and parcells have to be debated inclusively with players is so stupid. if parcells gets in, say, it means a player doesn't. what kind of sense does that make? they're not similar cases.

Tim Brown is not Hall worthy. Just a bunch of junk stats on a bad team....

Does his newfound role as a conspiracy theorist help or hurt his HOF chances?

I believe that all of these will get in eventually....

Warren Sapp
Michael Strahan
Jerome Bettis
Andre Reed
Bill Parcells
Eddie DeBartolo Jr.
Art Modell

I know Joesanity will likely disagree, but I wish Art got inducted while he was still alive just to watch him get booed off the stage.

I kind of think it will hurt, and could be why he kinda backed off of those statements

ha ha, can Edwin Edwards induct Debartolo for 400 grand?

I'm not even a Cleveland fan, but the fact that the guy was butt hurt that he couldn't extort the taxpayers of Cleveland to build his stadium for him and then pay him lots of money in revenue so he moved their team to Baltimore is reason enough not to put him in the hall of anything except maybe the Baltimore hall of fame.

Maybe if we could see an Irsay vs Modell exhibit to see which one is the bigger asshole.

Here's a pretty damning rundown of Modell:

Allen, Ogden, Parcells, Carter, and Sapp get in.

Very surprised that Sapp beat out Strahan.

I am too... Kinda. Maybe a "first ballot" deal?

How is Kevin Greene not in the Hall of Fame? 3rd all-time in sacks (160).
And I know there is a lot of Raider hate on this board, but 20,000 yards and 100+ TDs for Tim Brown. That's about 800 more yards and 40 more TDs than Michael Irvin. He shouldn't have beaten out Carter, but he absolutely should be in the HOF.

Glad Modell didn't get in. He was such a terrible owner and a complete scumbag. And that's before he moved the team.
