It might be hard to find fat middle infielders, but I'm sure it could be done.

5 of the 6 had really great seasons. Borbon gets a roster spot since he recorded a save in the 95 WS.

Are you gonna field a Marlins team in the next Franchise Tournament?

Team CopperTom.

I have no issues with this. Obviously if you were doing a Franchise one you'd have Aaron, Matthews, Spahn, etc.

That being said, you should field a Braves team for the Franchise one. I feel like we need more NL teams if we're going to have two even leagues or 8 or 10 apiece.

Ok. This seemed simple enough.

It's an easier commitment in the tournaments like the Franchise one where you don't have to deal with a draft. And with the Braves you'll have the rights to the Boston and Milwaukee teams too, so you could potentially have a serious contender.

Sure. It will be my pleasure to help other teams in their quest for 100 wins.

Hmm. So I think we're tentatively looking at this so far (bear in mind, it won't start till early October, so a lot could change)...

Teams I think we'll have:

American League
Red Sox (chud/numbers)
Tigers (Skitch)
Yankees (Argo)
Rangers (#BRL)
Blue Jays (phil)
White Sox (Lament)

National League
Cardinals (Kaius)
Cubs (TBAMTS)
Braves (CopperTom)
Marlins (4/5)

Also, whoever Ruddo chooses to run (I can't remember if the Orioles or the Mariners were his first choice last time). And hopefully EJ will be in this one again. Oh, and maybe Jorge will be back to avenge his second place finish.

Like I said, I'd like to have two even leagues for this one. That means we need either 12, 16, or 20 teams to have everyone play everyday. If we only have 12 teams, I should be able to do all of the simming. If we get up to 16 or 20 I may have to call in for some backup. We'll allow for a few second teams to fill up whichever league (most likely the NL) needs to filled up, but I think we should wait until everyone who wants in gets to take their desired team.

Sorry, I don't mean to derail the Rogue Tournament with all of this Franchise Tournament babble. I just don't want to start a Franchise Tournament thread until we're closer to the start.

EDIT: Alright, I bumped the 2014 thread for this very purpose. Apologies.

I had to cut some really good players (mainly outfielders) from my bench to get under the salary cap, but I like the looks of this team. The real disappointment is that Stubby Clapp never got enough plate appearances to qualify.

My goal is to get at least one game with an outfield of Spud, Goody and Bunk.

The Eh Team

C 2007 Russell Martin R
1B 2008 Justin Morneau L
2B 1885 Pop Smith R

OF 1890 Spud Johnson L
OF 1887 Tip O'Neill R
OF 1997 Larry Walker L
OF 1945 Goody Rosen L
OF 2009 Jason Bay R
OF 1906 Bunk Congalton L
3B 2001 Corey Koskie L
C 1915 George Gibson R
3B 1890 Jimmy Knowles R
SS 1886 Arthur Irwin L

SP 1908 Rube Vickers R
SP 1910 Russ Ford R
SP 1971 Fergie Jenkins R
SP 1904 Win Kellum L

oh, Stubby Clapp. He was the manager of the local low-A team around here a few years ago. In his final season as manager, he pitched an insane shit-fit with some umpire over some call. Yelling and screaming, cursing, getting in the guys face, kicking dirt, the whole nine.
And oh yeah, it was an 11am camp day game. The stadium was filled with children. :shake:
