I've got some tough decisions to make with the schedule. I have a feeling it's gonna be a pain to assemble.
Would more teams and games make it easier?
Haha, of course.
I think it's kind of a multi-pronged thing. The first one is in terms of scheduling. In my mind I was thinking we'd keep the matchups set in the same location for three straight games, like in real life. This makes the scheduling more difficult, cause I can't just go down the line and rotate opponents like I did in the last one (if I did that, someone would end up playing all home games in the first half, and all road games in the second half). What I'm thinking I'll do (tentatively) is find an old Big Ten basketball schedule from when all ten teams played each other home and away (and games were always on Thursdays and Saturdays) and just rip it off.
The other option is to have each team meet up three times, with one game at home and one game on the road each time, like in the last tournament. Beyond this making scheduling easier, this also has the advantage of there being a total of ten games simmed every day. The last tournament had sixteen simmed every day, which sometimes was a very lengthy undertaking. Ten seems much more manageable, especially if we set some standards about people keeping their default or vs. RHP lineups always preloaded.
I wouldn't want to do 2 games per day with three game series because I don't want to deal with people facing two different opponents on a single day. I also wouldn't want to do all three games of the series cause that's fifteen sims per day. So that means the two most viable options are...
1. Everyone meets on three occasions, with a home and away game on each one. This is ten sims per day.
2. Everyone meets twice, in two three game series, with the locations staying the same for all three games. One game per series would be simmed each day, which makes for five sims.
(I hope this makes sense. I'm writing this out to help distract myself from my ongoing misery...)

This seems like the easiest option, but obviously you would know better than any of us would. I'm sure everyone will be happy going with whichever format is easiest for you.

I think one of the other strengths of the two games per day option is that it keeps the season at 27 days. I worry 54 days might be too long, and 18 too short.

We've got a few weeks before it starts, so I'm sure an answer will present itself.
In the meantime, what time on Monday would you guys like to start the draft? Or would it help to generate the order first?
Chud, I know you want to pick as close to the middle as possible. Skitch, numbers, let's set a deadline of midnight on Wednesday (going into Thursday) for when you have to pick your draft position by. Then I'll randomly generate the rest of the draft order when I get home from work that night.

Side note: People need to pick home stadiums as well for this one. You have until the night before opening day to pick one, though you can snag yours whenever. Once a stadium is picked, no one else can claim it. Also, it has to be a stadium that was at use at some point from 1969-1994.
I'll kick it off by taking (shocker) Comiskey Park.

I'm thinking the official clock (which is two hours) will start at 8 AM on Monday the 26th. If numbers wants to kick things off on Sunday night though, we can start going whenever he's ready. No one can be passed over until the clock starts though (so in theory, not until 10 AM on Monday).
