Let's face it: What made pro wrestling great in the 80s and 90s was that it was made by coke and steroid fueled freaks, con artists, carnival barkers and outright monsters. These Nietzschean "blonde beasts" wandered across the US, plundering small towns and big cities, taking what they wanted whether by hook or crook, occasionally even murdering or getting murdered in the process. And they were as hard on themselves as they were with their marks, swindling and abusing each other as they went. Most of the greats were dead by 50. Such is the life of the free. In this way is greatness made.

But like all things, the relentless march of civilization and "progress" comes in and castrates it. Makes it "better". Makes is safer. Scripts it. Sterilizes it. The newcomers are forced to play the game, because the old time life-lovers could never hope to compete with careerists and corporate execs.

The railroads have been built. The frontier's days are numbered.

It's been that way for over a decade

It's gotten A LOT worse since like 2018 or so. 2014-16 wasnt good, but it was watchable.

Think Triple H being in charge can be a really good thing.

Maybe this Bloodline thing was a lot better previously, but RR's mic and character work still seem so forced to me.

I think it’s better than what it was before he left during covid, but I honestly haven’t watched wwe enough the last couple years to really say.

I probably haven't either, but what i've seen from isn't very inspiring. I've been trying to catch the Ezekiel stuff though, but it ain't worth sitting through the rest.

The over the top crowd noise manipulation really makes any wwe program hard to watch for me.

This years The Summerslam intrigues me because it’s the first real show HHH is booking, but my word this card is dog shit.

I have less than 0 interest in seeing Roman vs Brock again. Especially in a last man standing match - made famously boring by HHH himself.

I'm way more interested in Ric Flair's last match.

How about Reigns vs Omega?

Hopefully we will never get another Brock/Reigns match again.

I’m interested to see if Flair dies during it.

I have Cultaholic's live stream playing. I dig Pacitti on these.

Cornette talks quite a bit about old wrestling on his podcasts.
