I was exactly the same as your first few sentences. When we got cable Raw was young and kinda sucked. I think I stopped a year or so after WCW was bought out, then got back into it around 2015. I was so glad AEW hit because WWE got sh*tty and I’d stopped following it again.

Even with the differences, there are a lot of similarities.

Really weird with the barbed wire crown on Good Friday. But Dynamite and Rampage have been good this week, and still Battle Of The Belts to go.

I don’t think it was meant to be a crown, the spool of barbed wire just wasn’t cooperating.

I didn’t see it, but at least in theory it would make no sense for the face to do that. And in bad taste

I had an issue with Page doing the NXT style melodramatic “why am I so violent?” bit earlier in the match, but I loooooved the finish.

The deadeye was cool. I’d need to see the few seconds before, but initially it didn’t look like that was the intent. The commentary didn’t help though.

Battle Of The Belts felt a bit like a solid episode of Rampage. I enjoyed it.

Maybe so Cody wouldn’t be the only three time champion.

If they're going to bounce the belt around at least mix it up more. I don't think Sammy is main event level at all, but what do they do with him after he has 4 TNT champ reigns? There are a lot of people who should be vying for it.

Read that Tony Khan really believes in Sammy, but you’re not wrong.

He at least does better character work than JB at least. I honestly don’t care about the pillar narrative. I’d rather see guys like Swerve, Starks, Ethan Page etc… get their due. I know belts aren’t everything and their time will probably come, but build them up better now. Also for me I don’t think Sammy is doing himself any favors recently and being a face has not worked.

I think both Swerve and Keith Lee seem overrated so far. But Ricky Starks and Ethan Page are two of my favourites. Would love to see Jay Lethal get a big push as well. He is so talented, it rubs off on everyone he does angles with.

Completely agreed on Lethal. They brought him in so weirdly though so hopefully it hasn’t affected his perception with people not familiar with him.

I feel like that weird Cody title reign at the beginning of the year is what really has devalued the TNT title. It sure looks now like the reason for that was so Cody could have the belt as leverage as he worked without a contract while trying to get AEW to match WWE’s offer, but it muddied the integrity of the title(not that Cody would care about that now.) I hope they leave it on Sammy until at least June now.

Agreed on the leverage aspect. It needs another Miroesque run. God I miss that guy.
