Biggest heel of the night: The goddamn camerawork! It's been a while since I've watched a WWE show, but fuck whoever's directing this. There were so many moments where a big move presumably happened, but the camera was too busy zooming and cutting to actually get a useful angle of it.
WWE's camera work is horrendous. It makes it really hard to watch. But I guess they have to find a way to compensate for the fact that nobody in the company can throw a decent punch.
I've been watching 92/93 wcw and 96/97 wwf lately and the quality of the promos / stories / and matches is so much higher. The current product is garbage in comparison. It's like an acrobatics performance a lot of the time.
Competition is good. No doubt about it. When it comes to ability and putting on matches, both ROH and NJPW have had great shows and matches. NJPW is also number one in their primary market. I may be alone in this, but I think TNA (now Impact) has even had the best product at times, especially around the turn of the decade.
However, we all know nothing can touch the WWE, at least not since the 90s with WCW.
For AEW to really succeed, they have to become a lot bigger than ROH and NJPW in the US. Impact now is the smallest of the three in all ways, but TNA did use to pull some really good numbers. If AEW can match the numbers from TNA in their prime, that would be a really good start. To do that they need a really good tv deal, and more high profile names. Randy Orton is far from my favorite, but he would be the kind of big name that could put AEW on the map in a major way.
It's still a long road ahead though. Have to establish that you can book well, produce quality, stay consistent, not have financial problems, hang onto wrestlers, stay true to the product, have interesting concepts.

I've really come around on old wcw. Their 90s stuff, pre hogan, is really fantastic. After Hogan gets their it really goes to shit, but they had some great years with Dustin Rhodes, Austin, Foley, Rick Rude, Flair... Etc.

i love the hogan/nwo years
After his heel turn he's a lot more tolerable, but there are a few years before that where WCW turns into WWF light and it's really crap
