im surprised they went the totally predictable rout
i called y2j coming out right before he did
i get in this pool every year.. my draws were tensai, brodus clay, kane, and zack ryder.. only way it coulda been shittier is if you replaced kane with sin cara, woulda been my 4 most hated in the league.. i think tensai may be the worst character of all time actually
yeah, he is awful, how he got over so well in Japan i will never know, and how WWE used that as a reason to bring back Prince Albert just makes me shake my head.
i do wish the match was a little better at the end, maybe keep Ziggler and or Y2J till the end with Cena to give the thought someone else could win, but they werent going to have Ryback vs Punk again at Mania, and there would be no reason to have Rock vs Ryback at mania, so when it was down to those 2 then i knew it would be Cena as expected all along. i kinda started to believe Dolph could win and attempt to unify the 2 titles at mania( or atleast try to win them both) and Y2J returning could main event Mania against anyone and it will draw.

I was hoping that they'd let Punk win, and Rock would win the belt at the chamber next month.
Weird that all of the "good guys" won.
I thought ADR v Big Show was surprisingly good, especially since this was a match that they did on Smackdown just two weeks ago. It was still fun.
Hell No v Rhodes Scholars was okay. We've seen this a million times, though. Enough already. At least the Rumble showed that we're likely heading to a split for those guys. It's time.
Rumble Match was pretty good. I too would have liked to see Ziggler take it to the final three, but he's a workhorse and did a great job. He's currently my favorite guy to watch in the company, he sells better than anyone. If you didn't know Cena was winning you just don't pay attention. There was never a doubt about it.
Rock v Punk could have been better. It was too bad that the table fell apart, and the ending certainly felt rushed with just the People's Elbow ending things. A friend believes that Punk is going to face Taker at Mania, and if that's the plan, then they had to get the strap off of him eventually. I have thoroughly enjoyed his reign.

This is scripted wrestling, weirdo, not MMA, the Rock isn't going to tap out.
glad you had a good time, and it did seem like a great crowd, especially when Y2Js music hit, that placed looked to be going NUTS
where a bouts did you sit?
Damn good seats actually. We were at the bottom of the first elevated section behind the ground seats near the spanish announcers table. Just a nice elevevated view of the ring. Only problem was when the guys were out of the ring you had to stand up.
Yeah when Y2J came out everyone lost their shit. Probably the loudest it got.

yeah, ive heard punk v taker ( though there are also rumors of a Lesnar v taker match to play on their altercation at an mma event) Lesnar v HHH and Rock v Cena 2 has been long rumored. i dont want it but i also feel like Orton or Shemus will win the title at the Chamber and they have been the rumored match for the WHC. but i would like to see Dolph going for a title or at least cashing in on someone soon
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The 77-year-old Christian Brothers Academy baseball coach shot in the eye during the robbery of his North Side liquor store last week was back at work on Tuesday.
Thomas Dotterer was shot Wednesday night during the robbery of Salina Liquors and Wine.
For a time he was hospitalized in critical condition. He underwent surgery on his eye at the hospital and will travel to Philadelphia next Tuesday to see a specialist.
Thomas’s son Henry was at his side in the hospital. "There were moments where he was in and out, and at one of the moments I asked him, did he want to hear about the people who were stopping by or calling and he nodded his head yes,” Henry said.
His family said one of the first things he wanted to do after getting out of the hospital Monday was go back to the store.
Sitting in his liquor store Tuesday afternoon, Dotterer said, “Every day is great. Every day is great because every day I have an opportunity to meet new individuals and broaden my appreciation of what God has given us all to enjoy.”
Thomas says he used to be a "gloomy pessimist," an outlook on life that's changed over time and helped in his recovery.
"All things happen for a reason that preclude, maybe, present understanding, but you deal with the cards that you have dealt,” he said.
Yet, after all this, he joked that wrestling was what really ruined his week. "That's the worst thing that happened to me all week, the Rock beat Punk. Did you know that?"

if bruno sammartino held the belt for 8 years, how the hell did it take them til now to put him into the hall of fame??
Bruno has been extremely critical of the WWE for many years now. He started having issues with the direction the company was taking back in the mid 1980s. He has been very vocal about his criticisms towards the company, and to Vince who he doesn't seem to get along with.
Apparently, WWE has reached out to Bruno lots of times to try and get him into the HOF but he has always declined. Triple H seemingly made it his mission to change Bruno's mind, so he visited him more than once and tried to show him how WWE has changed for the better in terms of the Wellness Policy and the fact that its much more of a family show these days.
Bruno finally seems to have made some peace with his displeasure and accepted the offer to be inducted. About damn time! First title reign was over seven years, and his second reign was over three years. He drew huge crowds all over the world, and probably sold out Madison Square Garden more than anyone in history. It's only fitting he gets inducted this year at MSG.

Pretty good match between Punk and Jericho last night, but it would have been the perfect time to put Jericho over Punk( unless his new contract is just for him to put over talent again like last time) Punk should be down a bit after the loss to Rock, and it really wouldnt have hurt him to take the loss in a good match, i just really dont wanna see Jericho loose every big match he has again, they need to use him better then that while they have him.

meh, jericho can chalk it up as ring rust against a top opponent. kinda like you said, it depends on how they follow up with it. punk can't be losing going into facing the rock- they at least want it to seem like he has any chance at beating rock.

Thoughts on the new WWE Championship Belt?
right when rock uncovered it i thought it was ugly as hell( though i had seen rough looking pictures of it already) but as the segment went on i thought it was pretty decent.
i would assume they side plates are personalized for for the Rock and could be somehting they do for each Champ or once the Rock loses it, most likely to Cena at Mania then they will put some more standard side plates on, guess we will see

i never thought there could be a top title belt uglier than the spinner but then this thing came along. not a fan, at all. i'm sure i'll get used to it, but i don't think i'll ever like it.
i did get a kick out of punk's 'i want that one' line (pointing to the new title) after he clocked cena with the spinner.

Growing up watching NWA around 87, 88 and 89, i fell in love with the big gold belt, it seemed like the perfect championship belt and with the WWE championship straying so far from that it makes me dislike it right off, but i think it is better then the spinner and think it will grow on me

I think I like it, and I'm sure it will grow on me. I do wish that they had a name plate on it, I think that's cool. The side things dont' do it for me, but I actually kind of like the design.
I'm going to speculate, based on the ending of Raw, that we're headed for a triple threat at Mania. Just a feeling. I had heard, and we'd discussed, Punk v Taker, but if Taker were participating I think we would have heard by now.
Vegas isn't taking odds on a Brock Lesnar appearance this week with the whole fight against Heyman. I'm also expecting a Triple H save, which will cement their rematch at Mania.
We haven't seen Fandango yet, and I already hate him and the gimmick.

Re-Booking Wrestlemania IV (The Tournament)
I know you guys mostly keep this thread contemporary. I am an old school wrestling fan. I followed the WWE daily, and loyally from WM1 until WM14. Then I was out. Vince is smart so he sucked me back in with the DVD box sets. If I get in the mood for wrestling I watch a documentary, WMIII, or an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event.
Anyway, I was watching WMIV the other day and was so frustrated with the booking. They could have booked one of the best nights in the history of wrestling and they blew it with screwjob finishes and politics. Here is my attempt to re-book the tournament. It could have been the night that all WM's look back on with jealousy.
First Round
Hogan vs. Bye Andre vs. Bye
I am fine with this. I like the idea of Hogan vs. Andre starting the second round.
Duggan vs. DiBiase Muraco vs. Bravo
I like this too. DiBiase needs to do well in this tournament and Muraco was getting a push with Superstar in his corner. I thought the execution of the Duggan v. DiBiase match was perfect.
Steamboat vs. Valentine Savage vs. Reed
This is where they start to lose me. Savage is the eventual winner so he has to beat Reed who is a jobber anyway. How they thought Valentine over Steamboat was a good idea is beyond me. Savage and Steamboat wrestled in one of the all time great matches at WMIII and Steamboat vs. Savage II for a chance to advance in the WWF Title Tournament would have been legendary. Then after you have a chance to set up Steamboat vs. Savage III at the Royal Rumble and plenty of time to get Mega Powers together.
One Man Gang vs. Bigelow Rude vs. Snake
Gang doesn't need to win this match. Bigelow is from NJ fighting in NJ. Bigelow wins at my WM. Then Heenan screws Snake and Rude advances.
Round II
Hogan vs. Andre
At WMIV they went with a double DQ to get rid of both of these heavy favorites at once. I say screw Hogan again. Let Andre advance in some bigger than life screw job of the Hulkamaniacs. Andre wins via shady business.
DiBiase vs. Moroco
DiBiase fresh after screwing Hogan scored another victory to set up DiBiase vs. Andre in the Semi Finals. This is much better than having DiBiase get a bye into the final.
Savage vs. Steamboat
Another classic with Savage getting a pin fall. Match of the night. Does Savage have enough?
Rude vs. Bigelow
Rude scores another upset with a little more help from Heenan. Can Savage get past Rude and Heenan?
Semi Finals
Andre vs. DiBiase
Andre literally lays down for Ted. Crowd boos. Andre gets paid and DiBiase gets a pass into the final.
Savage vs. Rude
Savage is gassed. Rude is gassed. Elizabeth outsmarts Bobby and Rude allowing Savage to sneak behind Rude for a desperation roll up victory and a trip to the final.
Final
Savage vs. DiBiase
We get to basically the same place but the tournament is better, Savage/Steamboat II happens, Andre turns up the heat on Ted. Savage defeats Ted for the title with an assist from a pissed Hogan.
Now after you can do Steamboat v. Savage III. You still have the Mega Powers angle. Rude is a bigger star ahead of his big feud with Warrior. WM IV becomes a memorable night.
That was fun. Any events you want to rebook?
