I don't think I'll be doing anything on a bike until spring. Which reminds me, I still have to bring mine in for the winter.

Can I still join your sex cult in the spring, or will I have missed my shot?

You can join now.

I guess I'll have to click on that link when I get home and see what kind of shenanigans you're actually up to.
Now I know how you must feel in the iOS thread.

:|

Yeah.

Speaking of, I learned how to turn the iphone keypad into a trackpad yesterday. That was fun.

On bikes?

Living in Portland...you'd be surprised what people do on their bikes for fun.

Strava is blocked here but I sent the link to my phone so I can sign up there.

Really fun time to start biking in Houston. We're all in with this bike plan.

Welcome. There's an easy toggle between the two when you start an exercise. It's pretty cool. I've come to love Strava thanks to the running thread. I subscribe to premium, FYI. It's not essential by any means, but it's really fun to see who else is on your route via the "fly by" feature and there's a lot more measurable data to geek out on.

Dumb question but how do I make my run home today display on the team site? Or will it only show my bike rides? Can't wait to capture my ride home tomorrow, it's through some pretty world class mountain bike riding and super fun at night.

I'm in. Now I just have to wait to Friday when it rains because that'll bring the temps up.

SND, your runs won’t show up on the team site. HOWEVER, check out the running thread. There’s another RM Strava group for runners.

Thank you. My ride in this morning showed up. Only remembered to press start part way into the ride.

I love how Strava auto-pauses your ride when you want to stop and take a photo or something.

I'm gonna wait until spring to join. Is that okay?

I like Strava but if they going to give achievement cups they give should factor in the weather. My ride this morning was 35, rainy with slush in places. In other words, fucking cold and miserable. Last night's ride home was mountain biking and it was 30 and three inches of snow. I can't tell you how much fun that was.

Strava has its own set of issues. There's a segment right by work here that is a switchback that is roughly a block long. People somehow post 45mph times on it anyway. It couldn't be that they left the GPS running while the bike was on the car, right? But when you go to report it Strava says "oh, looks like you have an issue with their time. You can't report that." What the hell?

Biked in to work for the first time in a month or so. I forgot that I'm slower in the winter so it took an extra 20 minutes so I was late. Ugh.

And then when I get to work everyone's like, "Wow, you're here." I was having a minor panic attack about "is there a doctor appointment that I forgot about?" but it turns out the other Chris called in sick with a text message.

So a new bike path connector (probably less than 400 feet in total) opened earlier this month to bridge a gap between trails on two bayous that converge. I’m way too excited about hopping on the bike today and trying it out.

You know how on Zelda games you can access totally new terrain once one acquisition is made or one puzzle is solved? Kind of like that. It was cool viewing downtown from a slightly different vantage point and roaming around that new area for a bit.

A large stretch of the route to get to the connector was closed off for cleanup though, so I had to get up on the streets for a little bit, but whatever.
