T’Wolves might finally be finding some consistency. Now if only they didn’t have to play against the East (except the Cavs) anymore. Jimmy Butler has been great for the last six weeks; enough to start hearing MVP talk popping up. (Suck it, verb  ) Aside from the beat down they put on the Cavs this week, it’s still really weird how much they’ve struggled vs. Eastern Conference teams. With good play and a little luck, they might be able to get the 3rd seed, but I think the top four (which is where they currently sit with a 4 game lead over the 5th spot) is starting to look very likely. Getting back in the post season with a home advantage after missing the playoffs for one million consecutive years will be a huge step forward. Wining that opening series would be massive for fans and the franchise.

Jimmy Butler is not even close to the MVP of the National Basketball Association.

For the last six weeks he has been close.

He’s been fantastic over that stretch. In December he averaged 26/6/5 while playing great defense. January has been just as impressive. The Wolves are 14-7 over that stretch, and that’s largely due to his play. He’s leading a team that hasn’t seen the post season in 14 years and he has them solidly in the top 4 in the conference. All impressive feats. I’m not saying he deserves to be the MVP, or even top three, but I could hear arguments for top 5.

Another home loss for Golden State Warriors. Filipino hearts are breaking.

It's been fun to see the Wolves get into a nice groove. They can't afford an injury to one of their starters (other than Teague). They're perilously thin.

Yeah, that’s super true.

They are definitely thin, but some of it is on Thibs too. Tyus Jones is a legit backup point guard, Jamal Crawford provides the bench scoring, and Gorgui Dieng is a legit Center. After those three it’s not very good. Nemanja Bjelica has shown signs (he led the NBA in 3-Point percentage after the first month or so of the season) but he had an injury setback and hasn’t seen the same minutes or production since returning. Aaron Brooks is the third PG, but he’s basically only played while Teague was out. Marcus Georges-Hunt has gotten some minutes and he’s played relatively well, but he’s not a guy you can count on. Shabazz Muhammad has only seen the court twice in the last 18 games, and deservedly so.
