I always loved chins because I was skinny, then I became less enamored with them as I bulked, but now that I'm cutting, chins are great again. I've done 10 sets of 10 the last couple of workouts so I'm going to start doing 5x10 and then 5 sets weighted to failure.

Oh and farmer's walks are awesome. You feel a little ridiculous as it gets heavy and your grip starts to wain but they're great for your grip and core and really you'll feel it basically everywhere.

last night i did a condensed leg day (squats, leg press, bulgarian split squats) and then jumped in the pool for a 600m swim. i did twelve 50m sprints, and after each sprint jumped on the deck for 10 diamond pushups

i am wrecked

Strat, thanks for the resistance band recommendation. I love these things. Using them to train for the get jacked thread and also to incorporate a little workout in my mornings with the new dog.

Cut is officially over. Now experimenting with a recomp. I'm not overly optimistic but plan to give this a go for the next 8 weeks. Going to work hard and hope for the best.

Perfect for both my lifestyle and my novice level understanding of fitness.

The last couple of mornings I've been walking through the upper body and lower body suggestions that came with the bands using light resistance. I can feel the healing powers of tension and exercise in some problem areas on my shoulders and lower back right away. The arm workouts are a good primer, and then the lower body workouts on the floor really get my heart rate up. These things are amazing.

Should I be giving this routine a break every other day with such light workouts? Not sure I'm using enough resistance to really need to give my muscles a rest, but what do I know?

Big workout yesterday and got on the exercise bike. It was nice to work the legs in a different way than running. I believe the more diverse your workouts the better. I have developed to separate upper body workouts that I rotate and it seems to be working well.

We've been going to the Y for the past two weeks and they have this app called ActivTrax that creates workouts for you based on the machines they have plus what you're going for. It's pretty nice because my wife can edit out all of the ab workouts so she doesn't aggravate her nerve damage. So far it's going pretty well for both of us, it's just the waking up at 5:00 in the morning that sucks.

It's really weird how the weight can change from one machine to another. Like, 10 lbs on this one isn't nearly the same as 10 lbs on this other. There was a day when I was like "What? Naw, that's way too easy. I'm upping another 40 lbs." and then nearly couldn't finish the rest of my workouts.

I've also been using myfitnesspal to track my food. I like how I can scan items barcodes and it already knows the numbers, I don't have to enter anything myself other than how much I ate. The part I don't like is that sometimes I put in what I ate and the final calculation says I'm starving myself and it's not healthy. I don't feel like I'm not eating enough, so I don't know. I just ignore those.

I got invited to a pool opening party on May 18th and the next weekend I'm taking a beach trip, if I needed extra motivation to keep up the gym routine.

I see maybe one spelling error at a glance by Strat, and at least two by Peeps. And don’t even get me started on punctuation / capitalization.

I am on a pretty good run, everyday since Jan. 2 I have done a 45 minute workout or 45 minute swim. Four days a week in the gym and 3 in the pool. I need to mix up it as I am plateauing.

The only exercise I hate is hanging leg raises. I do 3x50 and hate every one of them past about 30.

Main focus now is to lose 15 pounds. Hopefully I will meet that goal by the end of May. Joining r2d's 100 day bike/run challenge should help with that. Day 9 is under my belt and had 15 days done before the challenge started.
