I haven't really watched SC in a while, but have they changed the format?

I was watching Fri nite while at a bar between sets of a band and they were going to show Trout's HR. His was 3rd on the list, so I figured cool, I'll see it in a few minutes. Then they popped in something else, then something else, then broke for World Cup Coverage and then added something else. By then I said for get it and moved on.

Is this a new thing or just a one time crapfest?

They've been doing that for awhile with their live shows.

Ok, thx.

Well, add that to our list here then.

Aside from live sports and 30 for 30s you should not be watching ESPN.

This.

Some of those 30 for 30 docs are flawless. The Ricky Williams one is incredible. As is the SMU one.

I'm a big fan of the big east basketball one, the SMU one, and the fantasy baseball one. Also, Bo Jackson.

"It sounds like satire, but this morning on ESPN.com, one of their top stories was LeBron’s son catching a fish.

That’s right. One of the top stories for ESPN, the self-proclaimed worldwide leader in sports, a multi-billion dollar company with more resources at their disposal than many small nations… was an Instagram video of LeBron’s son catching a fish."

I hate to be the "back in my day" guy, but I remember a SportsCenter that actually showed a ton of highlights instead of 3 months of NFL draft hype. It was great.

Is it jsut me, or is it harder to watch their highlights now (when they do show them) - With the quick cut camera shots and fast editing. It can make it hard to see what just happened.

It is way harder. There is no context and they only show about two highlights from the end of the game and that is it.

yeah but this isn't entirely ESPN's fault, as part of the proto-NFL Network money grab a few years ago, the NFL enacted a rule where they started to severely limit the amount and length of game clips that other networks were allowed to show. that's in part why NFL Primetime with lengthy game recaps went the way of the DoDo. the post NFL Network Moneygrabbers said "wait a second, we can do that, we can be like Vedder and grab dat cash". and He has. and they have.

I know it's out of season now so it doesn't really count, but they talk about hockey when something really violent happens, don't they?

I'm dreading when preseason football starts. The coverage of Johnny Manziel in Cleveland is going to be like the Jets' training camp coverage of Tim Tebow a few years ago.

I think so, but I only inhale my sportscenter at the gym or when it's on at a restaurant, so it's tough to tell. The product is soooo bad - with the exception of the ESPN local sites - I do enjoy ESPNBoston.com.

THIS
As much the whole Decision/Fireworks (not 1, not 2, not 3)/just going to Miami fiasco made me hate LeBron, going back to Cleveland and doing it this way makes up for it.

ESPN is going to be absolutely unbearable once NFL Training Camps start. Johnny Football all day, every day.

It's going to be hard not to want to hate Cleveland with ESPN's non-stop coverage of Manzel and Lebron.

It was bad enough in that emotionally exploitive Budweiser ad.

The worst part about the Manziel coverage is the guy won't even be playing this year (because Brian Hoyer will lead them to the playoffs).
