There were 2 reasons why I rooted for the Braves in the 90s and still fill a very slight affinity towards them:
1. TBS 2. The 1996 World Series.
I remember watching the 1996 ALCS with my mom and dad and all three of us rooted hard for the Orioles over the Yankees, obviously. I remember when the Yankees won and I asked my mom who she wanted to win the world series, and she said the Yankees. It made no sense to me. We hated the Yankees, but my mom said that despite that, she would always root for the AL team in the World Series. At that point I said "fuck that, I don't want to see the Yankees win anything. Go Braves!"

I hated the Braves so much in the 90s and early 2000s. Despite them owning the Astros in the playoffs for a good stretch, something about the team’s makeup and aesthetic has always felt generic and basic to me. Kind of like the Texas Rangers of the NL. I regret not enjoying Chipper Jones play now that he’s gone, though.
I’ve since warmed up to the team, but that is mostly due to the Astros leaving the NL.

Oh you’re not incorrect, they tried their asses off to be generic and basic at times.
Milquetoast front office, there were great decisions like Maddox and horrible decisions like trading Justice because he had a shred of passion.
Then they wonder why there’s no passion...well you play boring as shit baseball a lot of the time.
You couldn’t build a more corporate group of stiffs than the Braves offices.

Wisler was awesome tonight
I thought he could be one of those that could break from the pack of potential to being a solid MLB pitcher. Hasn't happened yet but last night showed it's too early to give up on him. And you were right about the Braves having a better hitting lineup this season; I wasn't expecting them to be as good as they have these first three weeks.

Couldn't be happier with the start they've had so far. Especially Tucker.
Wisler has incredible stuff when he's on and throwing strikes. His curves and sliders last night were works of art. . He just needs to have more nights like that in a row. Longest Braves starter outing of the season, and he could have easily thrown at least one more inning.
The best thing about the start is that it's guys like Tucker and Swanson and Albies. Inciarte is just starting to find his groove.

That was a nice opening month of the season. They're on pace to win 90+ games (which I doubt will happen) but there is no question it is a more fun team to watch than recent seasons. There's plenty of pitching questions but I'm perfectly pleased with the every day lineup.
Albies just hit another one, Acuna broke a seat in Left.
This is fun man. I hope they can keep it up, but Baseball is fun again. Love having a National League club that likes to run, the way baseball was intended.

What a come back yesterday. It happened while I was in the kitchen fixing my plate for a late lunch/early dinner at my mother's (roast beef with rice & gravy). I heard it while I was in the kitchen. I stayed in the kitchen during the rally because I knew if I went in the living room to see it on tv I would jinx it.
