The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I'm a New Balance guy. Contemplated going back to the Minimus line, but went with my 3rd pair of 1600s instead. I'll probably have to buy a pair trail shoes before my next Grand Canyon run or finally soil my beloved 790s.
That is a ridiculously true statement. I should probably get a pair of running shoes at some point though, I've been buying solely NB All-Terrain/Cross-Trainers for years.

I ran the shit out of a pair of Adidas Supernova Glides in my first few years of running. But stepped up to the Asics Nimbus for the last year, and they're so fucking much better and lighter.

They're 13 oz! Why don't you just strap a couple of bricks to your feet.

Well, lighter that the Supernovas. Those really were bricks.
With the distances I'm doing at the moment, their weight is fine. Once I'm heading into the half marathon range, I'll be upgrading to a lighter set again.

I heard running on beaches is bad for the legs? T2b?
Running barefoot on wet, hard sand is good for the foot muscles and also kinda acts like speed/hill work in that you'll feel like a rocket when you hit the pavement again. You get into problems when it's soft sand, because your feet get stuck in the sand and you end up twisting your knee or tweaking a muscle. I think we all remember Robert Edwards. The benefits of an occasional barefoot run are undeniable.
