Get some wireless earbuds and listen to some podcasts while you run.

Running is probably the only thing in life I actually enjoy doing.

Can I ask you guys a serious question? I haven't run regularly or consistently for years. I'm out of shape. Running isn't my issue, I know how to generally ease back into it, but I can't get my mind right about it. I get bored. It isn't even a motivation thing other than I'll say to myself "ugh, I'll go for a run but will be bored for the next 30 minutes". I used to run like crazy, races, triathalons, but I don't know what happened. I want to get back into running shape. Do I just not have it in my mindset anymore?

A. It probably takes 30 min before adrenaline even kicks.
B. The type of people who seem to get into running are addicted to the runners high which I think would more adequately be called a cardiovascular high.
C. The type of people who seem to be into running also seem to be on the intense side of things.

I feel like I thrive off the discipline of it and I like punishing myself.

Me too.

I would have definitely murdered someone by now if it weren't for running.

I have an alternate take. I don’t run as much lately and never really ran crazy distances save for the one half marathon I did with my ex. Half marathon isn’t even a crazy distance.

When I do run, it’s more about discipline and routine than it is about the runner’s high. I like building a schedule for myself and tracking my progress. It gives me a certain balance to an otherwise disorganized life, and that spills over to diet, mindfulness, all sorts of things like that.

Not disagreeing with your answer all that much, and I’m envious of the endurance that you guys have that can consistently get you to that high. That’s not me though, and running doesn’t have to be about taking it to 11.

Running up to the TV towers at South Mountain tomorrow morning. It's gonna suck, but I can't fucking wait.

Yeah, this () didn't happen. I actually have a pretty nasty headcold, but did manage to get in 2 hour-long runs.

I'm probably gonna die while swimming.

Also, my gym's pool is only 15 meters, so I have to do 53 laps for a mile. LOL

I might get after it when I get home from work today. Maybe a mile to the university campus and back.

I have taken months off since my last half in May. It is way harder to start over than I anticipated though that had more to do with not having time in the day lately to run than anything else (2 small children).
