I'll be taking it to the next level this summer.

30 mile weeks are comfortable for me right now but not really varying my pace much, just hanging between 7:30- and 8:00 miles. 4 more weeks and I start my marathon plan.

Taper time. 19 days to go. One for every inch of snow we got this weekend.

One of my running buddies ran it and finished around 3:25ish. She's a badass. I guess training all winter in this bullshit has its advantages.

I'm running 3.4 miles in 30 minutes. It's fine.

Thinking about running the Zane Grey 50, despite the shit result from my last race.

I'd go out super conservative and just have fun. The race is so in-demand, I'd almost feel guilty squandering an entry.

500 miles on these mofos. I'm guessing they're gonna hit 1K.

I have a pair just like that on standby. I was just thinking the other day I probably have about 400 on my current pair.

Officially made the decision to miss Zane Grey.

My sister's cabin still doesn't have water and my son will be making his first start as QB on his flag team on Saturday.

3.1 lunch run at the park
Splits: 9:13, 9:06, 8:56
28:04 total time

I just can't break through...I feel like that's insanely "average" for having been running 3-4 times a week since July 2017

What have you been running?

If you want to improve, you have to test/max out all your systems.

Going out every time and running the same distance at the same effort isn't going to improve your running.

Go out and try to run a mile in 8:15. Then go out and run 5 at 10:00 to 10:30 pace.

One of those runs is testing your lactate threshold and the other is testing how your body stores/burns fuel (glycogen).

Interesting...I'm almost positive I can run an 8:15 mile since I know I won't have to sustain that pace after 1 mile.
I've also run 5 at around the 10-10:30 pace...but that was a few times here and there on a treadmill

I'll probably go for a run this afternoon. The weather is great but my heel is killing me. Fucker's flaring up again, big time.

Re: The Running Thread

Spring weather and a few days of good running have me feeling aggressive about my marathon goals. I think I'm gonna try to hold a conservative (8:00/mile) pace for the first 15 miles where all the hills and boring stretches of the course are, then hit the gas for miles 16-26.2. Hopefully end up averaging around 7:45/mile. The last 10 miles are all downhill, I'll see my family twice during that stretch, and they'll have a bunch of music and and shit downtown near the end to look forward to. Starting to get hyped.
