Back-to-back 15s this weekend. Felt great.

20/15 at ~8,000 feet elevation this weekend on the trail of my 50-mile race in April.

May jump into a marathon on the 24th. Shoot for a BQ, then make Boston my goal race for 2019.

Nice, dude.

Last night a toenail finally fell off. This morning I did some fartleks. That's my week so far.

Fucked up and waited too long to book my hotel for Grandma's, so I'll be dorming it at UM-D in June. Probably solo, based on the look my wife gave me when I told her.

There’s a motel in Two Harbors right at the start line. It’s awesome being able to have a morning and your own clean shitter.

Felt the elevation (~7,700) today, but still managed a ~7:40 pace at EZ effort. Another 15 tomorrow.

Kids are having fun up here. Will probably start come up every 3rd weekend.

Day 2 up north was rough.

30 degrees with 25 MPH crosswinds at 7,500 feet with rolling hills.

With age comes great pain through difficult life experiences. I guess we end up persevering by holding onto the positive ones.

r2d, question for you. The marathon plan I'm on has me doing some, in my opinion, pretty pointless 4 and 5 mile runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. What would be the best way to turn one of those into a speed workout without using a treadmill (hate it), or a track (my gym's is terrible)?

Last night I did fartleks, basically sprinting whenever I would come to a non-icy stretch of sidewalk. There's a half-mile section of paved trail near my house. I was thinking I could jog to the end, sprint back, jog to the end, sprint back, etc for 4 miles.

Your thoughts?

Plantar fasciitis in my right foot. I have an insert which helps but, just as the weather starts to get nicer, any real running will be out for a while. At least I can walk fairly comfortably but I can tell you it's not fun.

That sucks. I fixed mine with Superfeet inserts (the green ones) in my regular shoes and by running on my midfoot instead of my heels. Went away in a couple of weeks and hasn't flared up in almost a year.
