Learned this on my first run with the Charge 2. Everything else is great about the FItbit, though. I particularly like the daily dietary and H20 logging, though I bet the Garmin does that too.

Second best thing to a GPS watch? This belt. Phone fits so snugly on my hip that I don't even think about it.

that's just a slim fanny pack

So?

Today was awful. 82 degrees, sunny, 94% humidity and a dew point of 65 to 70. I was soaked by mile 3. Shirt came off at mile 7 (why did I wear one?), so I had to stop and move my bib to my shorts. I dropped my gel packs somewhere before mile 14, so I only got one of those down at mile 9. I think that wound up really costing me because I did fine until the start of mile 25 (on pace to finish under 4 hours anyway). Then I stopped for water and I couldn't start again. I bonked. You could have put a gun to my head and I would not have been able to run. I was at 3:35 with two miles to go and I couldn't run. I walked for two miles until the last quarter mile and then hobbled in around 4:10 or something. I haven't looked officially.

I tried to run my last marathon pace at the start. That was dumb, too. Really just a lot of dumb mistakes. It was brutal out there, though, so I wouldn't have come in much under 4 anyway.

You finished, bro. Nice work!

You did a lot better than all those people who spent their day on the couch.

Saw your run on Strava, daft. I was impressed with the distance. Was this an official marathon or a training run?

Yeah, I guess.

Verb, I am honestly really glad you didn't run. It was a miserable day and would be a terrible first marathon.

Like I said, I walked for the last two miles and I still finished 190 out of the 633 finishers. That was 133 out of 377 men and 26 of 63 in my age group.

My pace through 5 was 7:26, through 13.1 it was 7:56, through 18 it was 8:21, and through the finish it was 9:40.

Official, though I wandered around for a while after the finish before I remembered to turn strava off.

Signed up for a spring marathon and if all goes well, will do another in fall 2018. Should be interesting to see how the wife reacts when she does the math and realizes I'll be long-running at least 36 out of 52 Sundays next year.

I've been thinking about doing a "cheater" marathon in the late spring/early summer.

The Utah Valley Marathon has a gentle descent of about 1,500 feet.

Having surgery on my grill tomorrow and won't be running until later in the week. Actually, I'll probably get a night run in tonight if I get off of work quick enough. Posting about it here so I actually do it.

Basically just a long weekend for Kevin Hart.

Having a kolsch at the icehouse right now after the two miles I promised myself. Is there a better post run beer?

Ever since Harvey I stopped depending on my 30 second walking breaks every three or four minutes and have been just going for it. I feel like that mile that really opens those longer distances up for me is just around the corner.

However, I've also had a persistent sore near my right hip socket the last few runs. Hope something else isn't around the corner.

Is there anything wrong with the Garmin Forerunner 15?

You know what blows? The Boston Marathon withdrew $185 from my account today. I'm not currently on the entrant list and I've received no emails. It's just a hold. It's just the biggest tease ever. This will be the first time I ever cry when money is put back into my account.

You and me. Boston. 2019, daft.

Sunday morning I ran 10 and felt like I could have cruised for 10 more. Last night I ran 8 and the last 5 felt like death. Pace was still fine so must be a mental thing I guess.
