I ran my first half of the year on Sunday. It was a PR for me by a long shot so I'm pretty happy about that. 1h 45m, 8 min/mi.

At least, I was pretty stoked about it... until I came on here and saw daft twat talking about running sub-7's!

Sorry but I never ran in NYC so can't really help you there.

Will be in NYC over the weekend as part of the Pearl Jam trip. I am scheduled to do 20 on Sunday. Is there a clear route around Central Park? How long is a lap? Trying to plan it in advance.

One lap around the entire park, if you just follow the main path, is about 6 miles. And yeah it's clearly marked and easy to follow. Here's a link from mapmyrun.com

I would have thought a jog around Central Park would be at least ten miles round trip. Though I've only been to Central Park once, and that was in 1998, and I only went to Strawberry Fields and Tavern on the Green. Still, that park seemed larger than life to my 15 year old eyes and small town sensibilities.

I've got a 10 mile race this Sunday. I think it's my first race in 2 years, and it's one I haven't done before, so that's got me excited. My training hasn't been spectacular, so I'm just hoping to finish comfortably.

Got a new pair or running shoes. Makes such a big difference.

Those look snug. Do you get a professional fitting when you buy?

I have before. I didn't this time. They seem to be pretty consistent each year. This is probably my fifth pair of the series.

Ran 3 times this week after getting almost no running in for a month. Felt really good but my endurance was gone.

Huge weekend!
10 miles Saturday. 7:10 pace.
20 miles Sunday. 7:23 pace.
The wind pounded the absolute shit out of me. Thanks to it and a pretty consistent incline, my slowest mile during the 20 was mile 5.
I type this Monday morning with ice on my knees. I am scheduled for 5 today. I hope I am able to do them.
5 weeks until the marathon.

Thanks!
2nd and final big weekend finished this morning.
10 miles Saturday. 7:07 pace.
20 miles Sunday. 7:34 pace.
I took a much harder route for the 20 (miles 14-17 were mainly uphill) so I am chuffed with my time. I feel better than I did two weeks ago.
I have a hill workout Tuesday, but otherwise it's basically taper time. 4 and 12 next weekend. 4 and 8 the weekend before the race. Might not reach my goal, but barring injury or high temps, a pr seems likely. Where the hell is T2B?

Well, this was nearly a disaster. The morning of the race was sunny, 72, and very humid. By mile 9, my brain knew I couldn't maintain goal pace, by mile 11 my body agreed, and by mile 17 I was worried about even finishing. Wound up running 3:48:05 - almost 30 minutes slower than last year. It was disappointing, but I will continue to train and run the Twin Cities marathon in October rather than quit now.

12 miles today. Going into my 6th week of marathon training. Hopefully this is the year I can get this done and not pick up any knocks that derail the goal.

What's the goal? What marathon are you running?

I did 11 today. Felt pretty good.

How did this go, Peeps? I remember you lost significant weight a while back. Keep most of it off? Ever consider doing a half?
