Same thing people say about black bears up here. I don't buy it.

I would wager I've seen about 200 black bears, and only 1 brown bear (debatable if these are black bears or not) was not scared of me. Although I do know of tons of habituated bears that were happy to live on the fringes of society, but still ultimately kept their distance.

Somehow that’s the most dev post I’ve read in a good while.

I encountered a black bear on the third floor of my hotel in Tennessee. Seemed like he was just cruising for some sweet sweet hotel occupant trash and didn't seem bothered by me.

R2D, I just finished re-reading Chapter 15 of Born to Run. So much of what’s been lost in me since I stopped exercising is in that chapter.

I did.

But it was more the fact that all the smiling runners and I nodded at each other and said, "Nice work!"

Grinding out a 14-miler while acknowledging my fellow sufferers is probably the most human I'll ever be.

It took everything I had today not to flip someone the bird on the running path today. I was in the part of my run that I had to push through and I pass this asshole who is walking the other direction and shouting "You can do it! 2 more miles! Wait, 5 more miles!" I hated him so fucking much. Mostly because he was walking and he had a sprite in his hand. I toyed with either throwing up the bird or spitting at him, but he was probably genuinely trying to cheer me on, so I let it go.

Meeting a friend to run at 8 tomorrow morning, when it'll be somewhere between -2 and 1. And sunny, at least.

^Well if he can do that...

My bike route to work today was boxed in by the marathon, so I had to meander and cross where there were crossing guards. I work very close to the finish line so I made sure to catch a few minutes of finishers coming through. Such a stark difference between the faces where I crossed (around mile 18) and the faces during the finishing stretch. I want to be a part of it next year.

I can get up to speed in a year, right? :?
