I finally found a time of day that I can stick with. 6am, before the house wakes up. I had a great routine going for me in July and August but I'm off furlough now and work/life balance is throwing it all out of whack. Thanks for all the kudos, my strava bros. It was fun while it lasted.

My running fitness is in a pandemic-inspired death spiral. Without a real race to train for I can't get motivated to run regularly, and if I don't run regularly my fitness deteriorates, and when you're not fit running sucks, and when running sucks it's hard to get motivated to do it, etc.
Been trying to make up for it with bike commuting and some light hiking. It keeps me from going crazy but the calorie burn isn't the same. I'm afraid to weigh myself but I've probably gained at least 15 lbs. since June.
I'm going to be a fat bastard by January.
Which is when (and why) I started running 4 years ago.

Motivation and energy have been lagging a bit the last couple weeks but once I get started I do pretty well. I force myself to go around 4 miles at least 3 days a week. A pain comes up once in a while in my thigh, but it never gets bad enough to stop me. Been stretching a lot which helps. Calves used to bother me but now they're huge and are hardly ever a problem. Went Saturday and Sunday in cooler temperatures which took some adjusting to but felt easier in the end to go further and faster. I think I still prefer the super heat to the easy-going coolness. Feels more accomplished with a soaked shirt.
