Met the Bataan survivors this morning. It was awesome. So inspiring. I love this race!

Barkley is this weekend. I'm gonna run my 8 and 13 milers at 150-mile pace in solidarity.

Nobody finished. Looked like a wet, nasty year. Only one person even finished the Fun Run.

Good luck Sunday, r2d.

My race was a clusterf*ck. A race official/volunteer sent the lead pack the wrong way and I ended up doing at least 2 extra miles (my Garmin doesn't record anything slower than a 13-minute pace), hiking through scrub. I dropped from 2nd to like 25th.

I let it affect me more than I should and sulked like a little bitch for the next 10 miles. I finally sucked it up and started racing and picking people off.

Finished 6th out of ~900 people in the heavy (ruck) division.

New course was a lot tougher (more sand and hills) than the old course and we had 30 to 45 MPH winds and temps in the low 80s at the end. I'm still digging sand out of my sinuses.

Still kinda pissed about the whole thing, but I'm an ultrarunner and should have had the mental fortitude to push through the misdirection instead of letting it affect me the way it did.

If I would have just sucked it up earlier instead whining about it, I probably still could have competed for the win and for sure had a podium spot.

So, I'm as pissed at myself as I am the guy who sent us the wrong way.

I saw your note on Strava. What a fuckup by that volunteer! Jesus. Incredible effort by you to come back from 25th to 6th.

R2d, Adidas is rolling out the Boston 7!!! Let's hope they didn't fuck this up.

I'm probably gonna buy like 9 pairs of Boston 6s when they roll out the 7s.

I'm guessing the 6s will drop to about $60 or so.

I have an extra pair of 6s sitting in my closet right now. For a while I was trying to scoop up a second pair and it was tough to find an 11 1/2. I was actually getting worried adidas was planning to phase out the Boston for that new sub 2 shoe they have listed at $200. Those look nice but waaayyy too expensive.

Is it lame to buy a Boston Marathon version? Because thats what I did. I think other colors will be out in June. I still have hundreds of miles in my two pairs of 6's, I just got kind of excited.

It looks to me like the tongue and toe box are a little different. Like maybe the toe box is a little roomier, which I think would be unnecessary. Looks about the same and not a total assassination of a good shoe like they did with the Supernova line though.

The problem with Adidas right now seems to be the Boost line being mostly a fashion thing and they only have a few models for people who actually want to run.

I would guess they are gonna put an overhauled Boost material in them at some point to keep up Nike's Vaporfly and Vaporfly 4%.

Fucking 9" of snow expected tonight and high temps in the low 30s all week. I'm going to become an expert in snow running and it'll end up being 80 degrees on May 6.

Question for the hardcore runners in here...

For starters, I have no aspirations of ever running a half marathon or marathon. Nor do I utlateimly care about my pace. However, I do equate how "in shape" I am from a running standpoint based on comparing my paces to the same routes over time. For example, this week I ran a 5k that I ran last week, and I ran it 45 seconds faster overall. I realize that doesn't mean I'm in better shape per say, and that other factors may weigh in, but it's just how I benchmark myself.

With that said, how often should I be running?
Right now I'd say that I run three 5k's per week on average. My app says I burn about 500 calories during those runs. The other days I lift at the gym and POWERWALK on my lunchbreaks in the parking garage in my office building.

I feel like I should be running more, but I also don't want to hurt myself. I'm wondering if the following routine may help me lose a bit more weight and ramp up my fitness level:
Day 1: 3.1 mile run
Day 2: 2 mile run
Day 3: No run
Day 4: 3.1 mile run
Day 5: 2 mile run
Day 6: No run
Day 7: 3.1 mile run
...and so on.

I have no interest in running further, either, as I really don't want to spend an hour running if I can help it.
I guess ultimately, adding 4 miles to my routine can only help me, but will this be causing too much stress on my legs/body?

As much or as little as you want, I guess?

If you're only using it as a gauge to measure your overall fitness, why run more at all? Just keep doing what you're doing.

IMO if you're gonna run 5 days a week you might as well go all in and follow a training plan, sign up for a race, gradually increase distance and pace, etc.

Two races this Saturday: a 10K immediately followed by a 5K. It's gonna be like 7 degrees. Shorts or pants, that is the question.

Tights?

Also, I'm not doing my 50-mile race. My body needs a break.

I'm gonna take a month or so off (3 days a week), then do a late summer/early fall marathon.

Yeah, tights might be the way to go. Gonna try for a 21:XX 5K and 44:30 10K.

First 30 mile week since the crash back in December. Spring weather should be on the way soon even though it's snowing tonight.

I haven't had any real problems with it but I can still feel the spot where the bruise is. The only thing I guess I should be worried about at this point is another fall directly on that spot.
