Our local marathon is moving from May to September this year and will hold 3 small races on one weekend in May instead. Limited participation, wave starts, etc etc. 1 mile race early Saturday evening, 5 mile race after that, 10 mile race Sunday morning. Finally, something to train/live for!

I don't run races but I'm highly annoyed by the idea that they'll still be getting cancelled in May.

You would think a hardcore runner like Fauci would find a way to save our races.

Any run is a good run, bro. How was the scenery?

Strongly considering making my next shoe a kinvarra or some similar 4mm drop sole. What kind of discomfort in the short term should I expect, and does the flat concrete terrain of my running area factor into it? How about my low mileage? Does what type of shoe I run in really matter that much? I run less than 10 a week and at most two miles at a time right now.

Why am I doing this? Basically, I'm intrigued by the zero drop/minimalist running thing but I don't want to fully commit. Baby steps I guess.

I’ve wondered that too about shoes and low mileage...it’s why I haven’t splurged on any

I've had a few pairs of Kinvaras over the years.

Was it tough on your calves and ankles after running on Bostons?

Not sure about that model. I really liked the pair of Asics I once had. FuzeX, I believe. Super simple shoe in all the right ways. Had some good runs on it.

I wouldn't want to be in them for longer distances but it's a shoe with a solid reputation and is affordable.

How long is "longer distances?"

I'd wear them up to 10k distance but the 4mm drop would annoy me anything longer than that.
