Just registered for Mt. Desert Island marathon on Oct. 14. We will be in Maine during our honeymoon. The knee is probably going to be fine eventually. Can't wait to start ramping up and getting a good base back.

Damn!

That looks like a beautiful setting for a marathon, verb.

I have 6 plus months. Any suggestions on a free race plan to guide me? I set my goal at 3:45 during registration.

Tons to choose from:

Hanson's: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1754/ ... 1006073263

Higdon Advance 1: http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51141 ... ng-Program

Nike: https://www.nike.com/us/en_us/c/running ... s/marathon

Boston Athletic Association: http://www.baa.org/races/boston-maratho ... vel-2.aspx

Most "serious" runners hate those Higdon plans, but I like how simple they are and the Marathon Pace/Long Run back-to-backs on weekends. I grow tired of all the "progression" and "ladder" runs that flood some of the plans.

I'm using Higdon's Intermediate 1 for my May marathon. 3:45 is my goal and I feel like it has me on track for that.

Going by your Strava entries, you're closer to 3:30 shape.

Mt Desert is gorgeous. I camp there most summers, right outside Acadia National Park.

You just did a tempo at ~7-minute pace, bro.

You're gonna kill 3:30.

Embrace that shit!

Awesome. Any advice on Acadia or just the area in general?

 What made that run interesting is that it was the first one in a long time without my watch. There's probably a valuable lesson in there somewhere.

Went 4 miles tonight. Dipping my toes in the water slowly.

Gonna do the Utah Valley Marathon in June.

I went from thinking I wasn't gonna race at all this year, to racing 3 times in 3 months.

It's an addiction.

Push ups are not a good way to prove manliness.

In basically every ancient hunter-gather society, the males with endurance were seen as superior in the tribe.

The big chested, "manly" men myth can be traced back to the gladiator days when they were kept fat and somewhat "muscly" to ensure they had lots of subcutaneous fat, so there would be more blood and guts when they were gashed.

That’s exactly what someone that can’t do 100 push ups would say
