Tell me about your route.

The honeymoon period is over with the Altra Riveras. Apparently there's some kind of covid-related worldwide industrial adhesive shortage, which is why some of the smaller shoe brands are seeing quality issues. The overlay on the upper is bubbling and peeling back in places. Doesn't seem to be structural yet.
The bigger problem is that running in minimalist shoes will beat the shit out of your body. I really started to feel it at mile 10 yesterday, and afterwards I felt jackhammered.
We'll see how they do on a 15-miler next weekend. Might need to look into something more plush for regular training runs and save the Riveras for shorter workouts and races.
There is a bridge on a country road a girl ran her car off and died on several years back on one of my routes. The most recent time I went out that way there were some flowers tied to a fencepost and lit candles lined up across the railing. Nobody else was around. I assume it was something a group had set up and just left for the anniversary of the crash.

That's sad. A moment to reflect. Reminds me of a time recently when some mexican votive candles, a framed photo, and some flowers were set out at the foot of a bridge I run across. I ran consecutive days and it wasn't there the day before...

I kid. I kid.
Seriously though, you might really like the Kinvara 11 based on what you're describing. More firm than plush but a similar stack to riveras with 4mm drop. 110 miles on mine currently and aside from some wear on the sole, they're holding up like new. They're super discounted everywhere right now. I'm thinking of grabbing a second pair before the good colors run out.

I’ve not run in ages. I noticed I’m less than 300 miles from 5000 on my run keeper app. I’ve done 5 each of the last 3 days. Have my first weekly summer pickleball match with my best bud tomorrow, so no running today or tomorrow. Hoping to run the other 5 days of the week all summer. I’m embarrassingly slow, but it’s nice to be back at it.
