Verb, I've been kinda thinking about this...
But if you are still having chronic knee/IT (and now hip?) issues, you should really try a zero-drop shoe. The 10MM drop of the Bostons is putting more impact on your knees and hips. A lower/zero drop shoe will put more pressure on your calves and feet.
And really Bostons are kinda made for clumsy runners like me (who naturally heel-strike), not a golden god like you who's a mid- to forefoot striker.
There has been a knot at the base of my hip that just over the last few days has started to feel better. Sore to the touch. It wasnt keeping me from running until the tell tale IT pain on the outside of the knee started to show up. I suppose it also could be some sort of bursitis, but I'm hoping if I try it out after another week I'll be good. Right now my knee feels good but I'm afraid running with this hip issue would aggravate it again.
That might be good advice on the shoes. I was actually thinking about trying the Kinvara 10s. They might be a good compromise between zero drop and the Bostons.

If it's not on Strava, it didn't happen.
I can confirm.
Went for two miles yesterday. Stopped when I thought I hit it, looked on Strava to see that I had .4 to go, then forgot to hit restart before running what I reckon was probably closer to another 3/4 of a mile.

My VDOT numbers don't really point to a sub-3 marathon. I should be able to do 5:40 intervals pretty easily and right now I'm kinda struggling to stay below 6 at all.
Gonna do a HM on the 26th to gauge where I'm at and adjust accordingly. I may shoot for a BQ in February, then hit one of the fast June marathons (Utah Valley or Newport, OR), before doing my Ireland ultra.
I just scored the Chicago Kinvara 9s for $59. Pretty good deal if in fact I ever run again. I really wanted the pink breast cancer ones but they didn't have my size.

I ran in Kinvaras for a while. Right after NB fucked their Minimus line.
I had the 2s back in the day. Pretty sure my race 10k pr was in them. The drop I was not a huge fan of but my form is a lot better these days so we'll see how it works out.
This shouldn't matter to me, but I'm annoyed at the way Garmin/Strava displayed this morning's workout. It must have added my rest times to the 10k/MP intervals even though my watch was paused while resting. So those sections look 30-45 seconds/mile slower than they actually were. What will my fans think?
edit: I guess it's my fault. I was hitting the lap button at the end of each interval, pausing, resting, unpausing, then going straight into the next interval. I suppose if I hit the lap button after unpausing it will keep the rest sections separate from the interval sections. Then wtf is the point of pausing?
