The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Marathon weekend is finally here. Feeling good. Weather looks perfect. I've narrowed my list of anxieties down to "suffer potentially fatal bee sting." Lots of bees out right now. Other than that, good to go.
Fuck, I couldn't even dream of running a marathon. I would die.
what if it cured my cancer?
Would it then cure everyone else's cancer?
hard to say...we will likely not know until you run a marathon

I hope you have a great race, Sconie. I live an hour west of you and I’m blown away that you trained through our winter. I am excited to see your first post-race entry here. Good luck, brother!

In this thread are we talking about horses running and if so are we talking about the Kentucky Derby and if so are we talking about how Ashley Judd needs to just stop?
Thanks man. Watching the 3:30 slip away didn't bum me out as bad as I thought it would, because by then I had just accepted that I wasn't gonna beat the heat. The first 14 went great, exactly according to plan. But 15 through 23 were scorching with no shade or even a breeze. I got behind on my water and nutrition and didn't catch up til around 24. Then last couple of miles felt great again. Kinda kicking myself for missing sub-3:45 by less than a minute, but oh well. Lots to work on for next time. Overall, had a blast and can't wait to do it again. Even shed a manly tear or two at the finish. Big thanks to the Strava crew for all the support along the way.
Now that I've had a couple of days to reflect on the race, I think my deficiency was electrolytes moreso than water. A cup or two of Gatorade around mile 18 probably would have fixed me up and eliminated (or at least mitigated) those 3 miles of bullshit near the end. Seems obvious now in hindsight. Still, I hit my B goal despite all that, so I can't be too upset about it. My overall fitness felt like it was right where it needed to be. Potentially easy fix for next time.
Legs are feeling surprisingly decent today. Quads are shot, but knees, calves, and feet feel great. Couple of toenails in rough shape. Hoping to get out for a short jog in the next couple of days.
I ran outside on the path for the first time in 7 months. Oof.
Anywho. It felt generally awful and never quiet got that runner high but im just happy i did it. need to get back into running shape and I should be able to do that now as a wonderful trail alog the River is located just outside my new home. Im also about 1,500' lower in elevation than where i previously lived.
3 miles. Not much but I need to ease back into it and keep my hip healthy and strong along the way. Im not a big runner these days and i dont plan on running every day. Though, i think my goal, at some point is to run at least 15 miles a week. It wont be my main mode of exercise as ill be hiking quite a bit soon here. Im hoping to run before work in the morning.
