I’ve blabbed on and on about my bucket list to visit all MlB stadiums.

Anyway my dad and I could have driven about 3 hours to catch a Rays game ... can’t remember what year it was. A while ago. We decided nah, stadium sucks, not worth it. I would still die happy if that’s the only one I never check off the list.

It's a dogshit stadium in a part of the region that's not particularly easy to get to, but on the other hand there's a sting ray tank and it's really easy to sneak into the better seats, so, your loss.

Yes I read about the physical location being a major factor in the low attendance. Would a nice stadium draw better, or is it just a terrible place to get to by 7pm on a Thursday?

A little bit of both. I mean, Spike said it--it's a dull concrete monster, you can dress it up as much as you want but it's never going to be like going to Camden Yards, it feels really institutional. And it's in south St. Pete, which has a fun little burgeoning bar scene but is pretty far from the major growth areas (north Pinellas and east Hillsborough) and is a real hassle to get in and out of (the stadium sits right next to a big interstate interchange). Tampa is still not a young area so even with a nice stadium more centrally located (near where the Lightning play, for example) you're probably not going to sell out a Thursday night game at, say, a 45k capacity stadium, but the Lightning sold out nearly every game last year, if I remember correctly, and the Rays have pretty good regional tv numbers, so to me it's pretty clear that the stadium plays a big role.

It’s just so bad.

You know how to be a statistical leader a player needs a minimum number of starts, or plate appearances, or whatever?

2020 postseason to require minimum number of games played.

M's are in the dance, baby!!

Sports radio this morning was talking about Cards have a chance if they play like 9 doubleheaders. F that. Just cancel their season. They weren't going to do anything spectacular anyway. This new hitting coach with his head in analytics can't get anyone to hit effectively for 1.25 seasons.

NINE double-headers in a season with only 40ish games left, assuming there are no other interruptions (from, say, a different team having an outbreak). Incredible. Just incredible.

God the Red Sox are so bad. Five unearned runs tonight.

The Red Sox had been heading for a cliff based on their future commitments and bad farm system. Then they traded Betts and Price and Sale got hurt and Rodriguez got COVIDed. Oof.

The rotation had no depth BEFORE they lost their 1-2-3 starters.

Yeah, I love how they keep talking like this Sale injury just happened out of nowhere and it hasnt been common knowledge he will need to get TJ since summer of 2018.

I believe the Marlins have a steal of home tonight.

Baseball is not going well for the Braves.
