i kind of did

and then the commentators for this highly competitive ATL 14 - NYM 1 blowout with no fans in the crowd gently segued into their MLB / BLM / Social Justice plug with the same delivery as a baseball commentator filling time in a rain delay

Remy and Eck were talking yesterday about what happens if California shuts down? Having a hard time seeing this season reaching a conclusion.

They've cancelled tonight's game and the team is still in Philly. When are they going to make up 4 games against the O's if they have to cancel the series? If they want to push through with the season, they're going to have to be ok with some teams playing 58-60 games and some teams playing 45-50.

I'd almost say a team gets to forfeit 3 games or something like that, if they need to cancel more than 3 they have to forfeit the rest of their schedule.

Something like that. But then if, say, the Marlins and the Braves have to pack it in, that's 24 free wins for the Phillies and Nats. Wouldn't be fair to the Dodgers when seeding time comes around.

Yeah, I don’t know if any of this is do-able.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Marlins cut corners and costs with regards to the testing/mitigation efforts. If any team was going to be irresponsible with this to save a few bucks, it’s the Marlins.

I’m sure this is spreading around other teams as we speak, we just don’t know it yet. Kinda how this virus goes.

if this was any big-market team (e.g., Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, Cubs, etc.), and that team lost 40% of its players, I'm assuming the official cancellation of the season would be only hours away. But no one cares about the Marlins, and their replacement players are about as recognizable as their regular players. So alas . . .

If there were fans in the stands, I could totally see the Marlins grabbing anyone with a glove and putting them in at 2B, emergency-goalie style.

Why would 2021 be any better? Not a damn thing has changed since April.

We’ll be fortunate to have some kind of useable vaccine by the start of next season.

Because if they cancel the rest of this season they'll start things up again in the spring whether or not it makes sense to do so.

And baseball just wont spend the money needed to make this work safely like the other sports are.

it would only be fitting for that to be last season under the current cba before another season is cancelled because of a strike
