Haven't been this jazzed for an opening day in a while. Excited for the season in general and more specifically, the Blue Jays. On paper, it seems like they have all the boxes ticked.

I thought you’d sworn off watching baseball? What changed?

A 2:21 game time was very welcome in the Chicago cold yesterday. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it around the fifth.

The M’s redeveloped this big bar / restaurant complex across the street from the stadium. Huge crowds last night obviously. There was a (long) main line to get in from the front. But on the side you could enter the parking lot through on open gate. We did that, and noticed a second entrance door right next to the one with the long line. I walked right in. Apparently the other guys I was with got stopped and were told “two hour wait” but pointed at me and said they’re with me. Walked right in, just as some people were getting up to go and gave is their barstools. And our bartender was fucking hot.

Oh and first pitch 7:10, game ended 9:26. Fuck yeah.

Cardinals / blue jays on Thursday was 3:38

So much for that pitch clock!

There were 34 hits combined so that had something to do with it.

Let’s determine the conditions under which the pitch clock should come off.

8th inning or later, less than 3 run difference in score.

I may actually be interested in baseball again if this pitch clock works!

Yeah 20 hits, 3 errors, 10 walks so far in the M’s game. This one will exceed 3 hours. I’m tired!

I think we’re still in spring training mode. Get a month or two into the season when they are more used to the pitch clock, and we’ll see it settle in nicely.

I do believe the pitch clock is worse for team on defense as if the opposing team knock out a few hits or walks in a row, the pitcher can’t slow down the game to “reset”.

Yeah this happened in our game last night. It really spiraled quickly.

The day off after Opening Day is the absolute worst every year.

Not being able to slow things down and kill time when a pitcher is struggling to allow the relievers to warm up is going to be a big factor. We're going to see a lot more big innings because of it I think.
