**David “Tank” Abbott is returning to fight on April 13th as he has signed on to fight noted journeyman Ruben Villareal for King of the Cage in Oroville, California and will air on MavTV. Abbott has not fought since February of 2009 and is now 47-years old. Villareal is 1-7 in his last eight fights and is 43-years old.

**In addition to Ronda Rousey, Liz Carmouche, Meisha Tate and Cat Zingano, the UFC has also signed Sarah Kaufman, Alexis Davis, Germaine de Randamie, Amanda Nunes, Sara McMann and Julie Kedzie for their bantamweight division. Tate and Zingano are the only ones booked for fights right now with an April 13th date on the TUF 17 Finale in Las Vegas on the same card as Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga for the flyweight title.

**Here are the results from the UFC 157 card on Saturday night in Anaheim, California in front of a sold out crowd of 15,525 and a gate of $1,400,000 at the Honda Center:
*Nah-Shon Burrell over Yuri Villefort by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
*Neil Magny over Jon Manley by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
*Kenny Robertson over Brock Jardine by knee bar at 2:57 of Round 1
*Sam Stout over Caros Fodor by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
*Dennis Bermudez over Matt Grice by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
*Michael Chiesa over Anton Kuivanen by rear-naked choke at 2:29 of Round 2
*Brendan Schaub over Lavar Johnson by unanimous decision (30-27 all)
*Robbie Lawler over Josh Koscheck by TKO at 3:57 of Round 1
*Court McGee over Josh Neer by unanimous decision (30-27 all)
*Urijah Faber over Ivan Menjivar by rear-naked choke at 4:34 of Round 1
*Lyoto Machida over Dan Henderson by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
*Ronda Rousey over Liz Carmouche by armbar at 4:49 of Round 1 to keep the bantamweight title
Image

**The following bonuses were handed out after the show for $50,000 each:
*Fight of the Night – Dennis Bermudez vs. Matt Grice
*Knockout of the Night – Robbie Lawler
*Submission of the Night – Kenny Robertson

**During the post fight media scrum UFC president Dana White stated that Jose Aldo is now saying he doesn’t feel that Anthony Pettis deserves a featherweight title shot. White said that Aldo’s trainer Andre Pederneiras told White and Lorenzo Fertitta last weekend in England that they didn’t feel Pettis deserves the show. White said the fight is still on or it will get ugly involving Aldo.

**To the surprise of no one Matt Grice is definitely not being cut following Sat night’s fight of the year candidate even in defeat.

**The Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga flyweight title fight is off of the April 13th TUF 17 Finale card in Las Vegas as was reported on UFC Tonight Tuesday night in FUEL TV with Johnson suffering an injury in training. The new main event for the show will see Urijah Faber takes on Scott Jorgensen in a bantamweight bout with both men coming off wins in their outings. That same card will also feature Miesha Tate taking on Cat Zingano and the finals of the current season of TUF.

**Matthew Riddle has been released by the UFC in a report by Ariel Helwani at MMAFighting.com following Riddle’s second positive drug test where marijuana was found in his system following his split decision win over Che Mills at the UFC on FUEL 7 card in London, England. Riddle tested positive for the drug after his win over Chris Clements last July at UFC 149 and that win was turned into a no contest, which this one likely will as well.

**Shahbulat Shamhalaev has stepped in to replace Daniel Straus on the April 4th season ending Bellator card to challenge featherweight champion Pat Curran. Straus had won the season six tournament but broke his hand this past week and they will go with Shamhalaev, who just won the most recent featherweight tournament last Thursday defeating Rad Martinez in the finals and was due a title shot anyway.

**Globo TV out of Brazil reports that a lightweight bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Evan Dunham is in the works for the UFC on FX 8 card on May 18th in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

**Free agent Jacob Volkmann, who was one of the sixteen fighters cut last week by the UFC, has signed with the World Series of Fighting organization. Volkmann went 6-4 during his UFC run with his final eight fights taking place at lightweight after cutting down. Volkmann is coming off a loss to Bobby Green at UFC 156 earlier this month.

**A writer is not impressed with Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche comparing it “porn” and later in the article refers to Ronda as “Rouse” at http://onmilwaukee.com/sports/articles/ ... esufc.html.

**Bellator has an off-week this Thursday and return on March 21st in Lewiston, Maine featuring the finals of the lightweight tournament between Marcin Held and Dave Jansen.

**If you missed the UFC 158 conference call involving Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz you can listen to the entire call below. This is a must listen particularly from the 26:30 mark onward:

**Ariel Helwani reported on Thursday that free agent Jon Fitch has signed with the World Series of Fighting organization and is targeting their June 14th card to debut. WSOF signed a deal with NBC Sports Network earlier this year and are planning for six cards in 2013 with the first one scheduled for March 23rd headlined by Andrei Arlovski vs. Anthony Johnson.

if Diaz could only be more disciplined in his fighting instead of acting a fool, he'd have a decent shot.

**The California State Athletic Commission announced that UFC heavyweight Lavar Johnson was found to have elevated levels of testosterone in his system following his unanimous decision loss to Brendan Schaub at UFC 157 last month in Anaheim and has suspended today by the California State Athletic Commission for nine-months and has since been cut by the UFC. The commission used a carbon isotope ratio test to determine the presence of a steroid in his system. There is a big loophole in testing right now where commissions allow fighters a 6:1 and in some cases 4:1 T/E ratio and allowing fighters a big threshold in which to take synthetic testosterone and still pass a test with flying colors. The carbon isotope ratio test is able to determine if there is synthetic testosterone in a person’s system regardless of their T/E ratio and is a test that VADA has pushed for and was a key to this particular test.

**The UFC has announced that both Riki Fukuda and Alex Caceres, who competed on the recent UFC on FUEL 8 card in Japan have failed their post fight drug tests. Fukuda tested positive following his loss to Brad Tavares for three banned stimulants and has been released by the company. Caceres was found to have traces of marijuana metabolites in his system and his win over Kyung Ho Kang has been turned into a no contest. Caceres has been suspended for six-months and will have to attend drug rehabilitation.

**Ariel Helwani reported on UFC Tonight on Tuesday night that welterweight Johny Hendricks is going for a x-ray on his left hand but doesn’t believe it is broken and he is hopeful of fighting Georges St-Pierre this August.

**Darren Elkins, who was victorious this past Saturday over Antonio Carvalho with a controversial stoppage win, is returning to the octagon on April 20th. Elkins has stepped up to take the spot of an injured Clay Guida against Chad Mendes with Elkins on a role at 5-0 since cutting down to the featherweight division.

**Ediane Gomes is off of the April 5th Invicta FC 5 event in Kansas City where she was to fight Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos. Invicta is shuffling the card around with Fiona Muxlow now inserted to fight Santos while Muxlow’s original opponent Julia Budd is currently without an opponent.

**Eric Prindle has suffered an injury and is off of tonight’s Bellator card where he was to fight Brett Rogers on the main card. It is unknown if a replacement will be found or if they just scrap the fight from the show.

**Tryouts for the next season of TUF will take place on Monday April 15th in Las Vegas with Ronda Rousey and the winner of Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano coaching on that season. The season will be an all bantamweight season with both male and female fighters on the show.

**UFC welterweight Rick Story posted the following on his Facebook page after his win this past Saturday at UFC 158:

I want to fight Jake Ellenberger! It pisses me off that he's getting all of the accolades when I already beat him. It’s annoying that people keep making the excuse for Jake "well that was earlier in your guy's career".
OK, even back then he had 3 times the amount of fights that I had.

Also, let’s look at more recent times, he got Ko'd by Martin Kampmann in the 2nd round where as I went the distance with Kampmann with 1 leg.

The bottom line is I want to be in the position he is in right now and if I have to beat his ass again to get there...... Then Let’s do it!

**Bellator is live tonight at 10pm EST from Lewiston, Maine featuring the following main card bouts on Spike TV:
*Dave Jansen vs. Marcin Held in the finals of the lightweight tournament (this was originally set for December but was postponed when the commission ruled Held was too young to fight inside of a casino)
*Travis Wiuff vs. Ryan Martinez
*Marcus Davis vs. Waachim Spiritwolf

**The Nevada State Athletic Commission held a meeting today regarding a number of issues including the state’s desire to maintain a 6:1 T/E ratio limit for fighters. Executive Director Keith Kizer maintains it is to ensure no false positives and was also the WADA (World Anti-Doping Association) standard until seven-years ago while other states have a more stringent 4:1 ratio limit. The idea of implement the CIR test (carbon isotope ratio test) was suggested for any results over the 4:1 threshold with the CIR test able to detect synthetic testosterone in one’s system. Marc Ratner of the UFC noted that a CIR test was used for Lavar Johnson’s recent test that came out showing elevated levels of testosterone after his February 23rd bout at UFC 157 and took 17-days to come back at a cost of $700. They also discussed marijuana use with Kizer and others planning to revisit discussion at a later date feeling that the current penalties may be outdated when it comes to fighters being suspended for metabolites rather than active THC in their systems.

**Latino Review reports that UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has been cast as Batroc the Leaper in the forthcoming “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, which will also feature Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Redford among others and is scheduled to be released on April 4th 2014.

**Julia Budd will now be fighting Mollie Estes at Invicta FC 5 on April 5th in Kansas City, Missouri and airing on iPPV. Budd was originally set to fight Fiona Muxlow but Muxlow was moved over to fight Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos when her original opponent fell out due to injury.

**Here are the main card results from the World Series of Fighting 2 card on Saturday night in Atlantic City, New Jersey and airing on NBC Sports Network in the U.S.:
*Justin Gaethje over J.Z. Cavalcante by TKO (doctor’s stoppage) at 2:27 of Round 1
*Josh Burkman over Aaron Simpson by KO at 3:04 of Round 1
*Dave Branch over Paulo Filho by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)
*Marlon Moraes over Tyson Nam by KO at 2:55 of Round 1
*Anthony Johnson over Andrei Arlovski by unanimous decision (29-28 all)

**Jon Fitch was in the building and it was announced he would be fighting on their next card set for June 14th presumably against the winner of Josh Burkman vs. Aaron Simpson. However, after the fight Burkman said he wanted to fight for the title rather than fight Fitch, which was odd since there is no title to fight for right now in the promotion.

**The UFC announced that the UFC on FOX 8 card will take place Saturday July 27th in Seattle, Washington at Key Arena (which is where the FOX 5 card took place last December). No fights have been announced as yet for the show but will come one-week before a card in Brazil that is scheduled to be headlined by Jose Aldo vs. Anthony Pettis for the featherweight title.

**Dan Hardy has injured himself in training and is off of the April 20th UFC on FOX 7 card in San Jose, California where he was to fight Matt Brown. Stepping in to take the spot of Hardy is Jordan Mein, who just fought this past weekend at UFC 158 stopping Dan Miller in his UFC debut. Mein joins Darren Elkins and T.J. Dillashaw as fighters that won at UFC 158 and are coming back to fight April 20th with Elkins fighting Chad Mendes on that card while Dillashaw is replacing Francisco Rivera to fight Hugo Viana on the card.

**Charles Rowan, an amateur mixed martial artist out of Michigan has been accused by two promoters in the state of staging his own death according to a report by The Associated Press at http://espn.go.com/mma/story/_/id/90851 ... aked-death.

**The Traverse City Record Eagle has a lot more on Charles Rowan in a story by Glenn Puit at http://record-eagle.com/local/x16887062 ... king-death.

**Here are the main card results from the Bellator 94 event thurs night in Tampa, Florida:
*Rodrigo Lima over Ronnie Mann by unanimous decision (30-27 all)
*Luis Melo over Trey Houston by arm-triangle at 1:09 of Round 3
*David Rickels over Saad Awad by TKO at 5:00 of Round 2 to win the lightweight tournament
*Emanuel Newton over Mikhali Zayats by unanimous decision (29-28 all) to win the light heavyweight tournament

**The UFC has added a pair of featherweight bouts to the UFC 162 card set for July 6th in Las Vegas, Nevada with Frankie Edgar taking on Charles Oliveira and Cub Swanson set to fight Denis Siver. This is interesting because Edgar was pushing to fight Swanson but Swanson felt he wouldn’t be ready to fight in time due to an injury from his last bout in February but now both are competing on the same card in separate fights.

**The UFC has also confirmed that there will be a Fan Expo on July 5th and 6th in conjunction with UFC 162 in Las Vegas.

**The UFC is making their return to Boston for the first time since August 2010 with the announcement that the August 17th UFC on FS 1 1 (not a typo) event will take place from the TD Gardens and highlight the launch of the new re-branded network. The UFC has only run the city once with UFC 118 taking place there in August 2010 featuring Frankie Edgar vs. BJ Penn in their rematch for the lightweight title and Randy Couture taking on boxer James Toney in the co-feature.

**The UFC has announced that Alexander Gustafsson’s training partner Ilir Latifi will take his spot to fight Gegard Mousasi on Saturday in the main event of the UFC on FUEL 9 card in Stockholm, Sweden. There was a lot of complaining regarding this non-UFC fighter getting the spot but let’s realize that had less than a week’s notice to only fill a spot but a main event slot on an international show, meaning that the fighter needed a visa to fight overseas. Obviously if the UFC had a better option in regards to a fighter on the roster they would have gone that route but their back was against the wall, they saved the show and at the end of the day we’re talking about a free card on FUEL. It was a no-win situation for the company in regards to the live crowd, which sold out the venue immediately and largely to see Gustafsson fight and there are going to be disappointed fans but better rather this option than telling 25 other fighters that the show is cancelled.

**The cut to Gustafsson occurred last Thursday with news not coming out regarding the cut until Sunday. Gustafsson posted a picture of the gash that you can see on the MMA Fighting site and then later on Dana White posted a picture of Gustafsson where the cut is no longer visible and calling it the “worst decision ever” to not allow him to fight. It should be noted that White is not in Sweden yet so he wouldn't have taken the photo and is not set to arrive until Friday.

**Bellator has their season finale tonight night from Atlantic City, New Jersey. It’s a very strong card on paper with the following main cards bouts airing on Spike TV starting at 10pm EST right after Impact Wrestling:
*Pat Curran vs. Shahbulat Shamhalaev for the featherweight title
*Doug Marshall vs. Brett Cooper in the finals of the middleweight tournament
*Mike Richman vs. Magomedrasul “Frodo” Khasbulaev in the finals of the featherweight tournament
*Karo Parisyan vs. Rick Hawn

**The semi-finals for TUF were set up on wed night’s show with Uriah Hall meeting Dylan Andrews and Josh Samman meeting Kelvin Gestelum on next week’s show and the winners fighting April 13th on the finale in Las Vegas. Hall and Samman are certainly the favorites and they were pushing the idea that it could be the biggest finale in TUF history if both win next week.

**Invicta FC has posted an awesome face to face video with Bec Hyatt and Jasminka Cive, who are fighting on Friday with moderator Julie Kedzie.

Uriah Hall is devastating in TUF.

I want to see him fight someone of true UFC caliber though.
