He said he was coming back immediately after hoisting the trophy last year, probably already knowing the league would schedule a Bucs/Pats tilt. I wonder if he’d be quick to commit to next season if the Pats had won that game.

Out of conference opponents are known well in advance. You play a different division every year, so he knew he'd have a chance to beat the Pats/all 32 teams. He wouldn't have another shot at them for 4 years, unless they met in the SB.

I mean, I guess we all have big and small goals. Brady's achieved all the big goals. So it makes sense that a decision like retirement would hang on a small goal.... but it seems kinda stupid to me. I guess if he had been the only one to do it, fine. But otherwise...
