tom brady's best quality is his work ethic, it's tied to everything else. he's not the fastest qb ever, he doesn't have the strongest or most accurate arm, he's not really mobile considering some of his opponents and peers, but he outworks everyone. manning and montana can fight for silver, but there's no question who the best qb ever is. it's not just the super bowls. he's been the focal point for defenses for most of his career and he's still consistently one of the best qb's in the league. the comebacks he's lead are legendary and unmatched. the guy reads a defense and stays calm under pressure better than maybe anyone in the game, ever. it's not even debatable anymore.
*Brady played in an NFL, especially after his first 2 or 3 seasons, where all the rules were geared towards offense. Especially the last 5 where hitting a QB is a capital offense.

Here's another quote for you:
Warehouse is 100 percent correct. He's by no means a New England/Tampa fan, so for him to write this means he's looking at this from a good perspective.
Yeah, this is a tough conversation because there are too many factors. How are you defining "best." If he doesn't have the strongest arm, if he isn't the most athletic, if he isn't the most accurate, if there have been multiple cases of cheating, if the refs let him get away with more than they let others get away with, if it's a team game, etc... then I'm not sure how one can quantify this argument.
Tree is right in that no one has had a more decorated career. But few have played as long as he has (especially at the level he has, which is a total credit to him and one point in the argument for "goat"). Few have had the head coach that he had. Few have had the defenses he's had. And on and on and on. None of this is ever apples to apples.
It's a fruitless argument. Obviously Tom Brady is among the best we've ever seen play the game. His QB IQ is off the charts. He's clutch AF! But again, he's benefitted more than most QB's from beneficial officiating.
And the game is totally different now than it was in decades past. So it's impossible to compare him to Montana or Unitas or any of the other "goat" candidates from way back when.
Either way, however you chose to look at it, Brady is a great QB. But there are zero arguments to me that he is the best NFL player of all time. And certainly no world in which he's the greatest athlete of all time.
As much as I goddamn hate his guts and can't wait for him to be out of my life forever, he's fun to watch play and has absolutely earned his place in the "goat" conversation, the same way Montana has, the same way many, many others have.
I'm in the minority that Brady has a legit argument for being the best QB of all time but that the argument is difficult to pin down across the board because there are many factors to consider? Oh okay. Got it.

Can someone who has been to ten Super Bowls, winning 7 of them, be overrated?
team sport yo
he's pretty great.. but his best qualities are consistency and staying healthy for so long.. there have been plenty of more talented QBs that just couldn't keep it together for one reason or another, or didn't have the weapons to produce
Right but he didn’t have the same team for all ten Super Bowls. He was the only consistent factor
Also lol Pennington was a hack
