The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
i've always felt YAC (yards after catch) to be a waste. not sure if that's an actual stat (anymore or ever), but i remember a time when that was brought up with regularity.
I don’t think stats are deceptive in any sport, the logic attached to them is.
And or Art and nuance.
A single statistic doesn’t tell a story about performance, for instance driving distance in golf, without driving accuracy or GIR or number of putts etc.
Football is difficult to judge on kept statistics alone because they don’t always tell the whole story about all the things that take place to make a play or a game successful.
In soccer, a team might have 80% of the possession and complete 70% of their passes but produce very few real scoring chances.

of the major sports, and on an individual basis, which sport do you feel stat lines are the most deceptive?
Baseball because of how they are used. Almost every stat now has some counter stat and everyone can always find stats to back up whatever argument they have and just ignore the ones that contradict what they are saying.
