Simple Torture wrote:First day of the draft seemed to go well. I’ve always heard that drafting talent is better than drafting need, but yesterday they seemed to merge, since catcher is so thin for the Sox from top to bottom. Second round pick seemed more like a flier. I haven’t been following Day 2 very closely yet, but seems like a bunch of safe college guys, nothing flashy.

It’s tough because I don’t think the pieces they would sell would net them anything of value, nor would they be able to buy much with pieces they have to offer. AAA is incredibly thin right now, so if you sell MLB pieces, you are going to fill the team with Joe Nobodies for the rest of the season, and if you tried to buy using some of the lower minors depth, then AAA will still be a mess next year. If they are going to sell, Paxton and Kenley make sense to move, but their contracts mean you’ll get barely anything back. They’re going to end up trading Dalbec for a bag of balls or cash considerations, probably. numbers is probably right that they will do nothing, hopefully sneak into the playoffs, then let a bunch of contracts expire and look for free agents next year.
