The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
If they don't try to attach Price to him, I think the return will at least be worth getting excited about. Not that that makes it any easier to watch someone so important to the franchise leave, but... the Jays traded Josh Donaldson for a 27-year-old with an ERA over 6.5 in AAA who had just had Tommy John surgery. So... it could be worse, I guess.

Mookie is only 27 and he was already number 10 on the Sox WAR list. Jesus fucking Christ. If he had a 10+ WAR season this year he would have passed Rice, Doer, Pedroia, and maybe Ortiz. Jesus ducking Christ.

Also, shouts to David Price. He had a rough, injury-plagued tenure, but he threw some big games when it counted, and you ain't gonna find some Joe Schmoe off the street who can eat innings like him when he's healthy.
David Price is the kind of contract you fire the GM for signing. That cost Betts. To get out from under that incredible disaster of a deal they had to trade one of the best players in baseball at 27.
Perhaps it's somewhat Ironic, but Frank Wren, who brought the brothers Upton to Atlanta was recently working for the Sox as some sort of adviser (he may still be I'm not sure)
When Melvin BJ Upton's contract needed to be moved because it was so awful, it cost the Braves Craig Kimbrel in the process.

All of this traces back to the original sin, lowballing Lester. That led to the overspending on starting pitching, which led to this.
