The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
This really isn't how the court system works in Illinois as I am confused as to why there is no sentencing hearing scheduled and Ocho Stanko apparently went straight to jail, but good job anyway, Florida .
I disagree with how that went down. That judge had a major stick up her butt, and clearly wasn't aware that that was a common thing in football.
No way. Your're obligated to behave a certain way in the court room.....and that doesn't even take into account the fact he appeared in court on the VOP for not reporting in the first place. He got his, in my opinion.
I can tell we're not going to agree on this one. If Chad's actual VOP was serious enough to warrant jail time, then she should haven't accepted the deal in the first place.
I'm a little offended slapping your wife is cool but a pat on a lawyers butt is contempt.
Why can't he be jailed for general douchbaggery?
That's just it though. Slapping your wife isn't cool, which is precisely why you don't pat your lawyer on the ass and generally treat your term of probation like a joke in the courtroom.
A lot of the articles say he "didn't keep in touch" with his probation officer, but from what I understand the guy just straight up didn't report. Being sentenced to 30 days in jail is standard for technical violations after it becomes obvious probation has been ineffective.....but from the State's Attorney's perspective, and in this case, the judge....you have some clown who clearly thinks the whole process is a joke and he is above the law. The judge made the call to give him the 30 days and be done with it rather than mess around with the plea. Can't say I disagree.

the judge is a self righteous feminist
Every judge is self righteous. Its part of the job. I work with these people every day and my conclusion is: fuck Chad Johnson
as i understand it, she should have never excepted the plea deal if the crime was so "serious." that said, CJ shouldn't put himself at the mercy of a judge to begin with.

i work with judges every day too, and i dont think any of them are this self righteous. even the feminist ones.
her ruling was based on the way the courtroom reacted. chad johnson was in the middle of saying how "awesome" his lawyer was, and i even think he said "good job" when he patted him on the butt. its not at all out of line for a professional athlete, or any athlete really, to pat someone on the butt as a show of respect and admiration. if chad johnson put his lawyers on his shoulders after the ruling she would have a point, but patting him on the butt is nothing. if the crowd in the courtroom didnt laugh this never would have happened.
RedEye: What would you have given to play with a quarterback like a Jay Cutler?
Terrell: (Laughs, for a long time) I would have cut off both my balls. I’d give those up, no problem. You could have neutered me. I woulda been neutered with a smile. Shit, man, for real.
