Stupid Brain of J cost me seeing Leash in Spokane in 2013. I hate it.
Some asshole with 4 foot long dreads was invited on stage and let Ed cut his hair in exchange for playing his request, Brain of J, and later on the setlist photo you could see they scratched Leash for it.

The group of songs in these matchups are a murderers' row. Some of PJ's best music....for this matchup, I'd go slightly with Faithfull, but it could easily change depending upon the day. Brain of J is as melodic and accessible as their catchiest stuff, as vicious in the verses as parts of Vitalogy, and keeps the atmosphere of No Code while expanding on it. It's pretty impressive how it manages to stand apart from the rest of Yield and set it up perfectly.
Faithfull is just a powerhouse. I still love how on this song (and throughout much of Yield for example), the band plays around with pop conventions, but looks at them askew. It's not mocking, there's a genuine appreciation for optimism and accessibility, but this was still a band that didn't want to give up peeking down odd corners.
Head says "Faithfull," heart says "Brain of J." I'm going with the "follow your heart" mantra even though I recognize the problems inherent to trusting emotions over logic.
Guys, I am not a moderator! I swear to God! Why does everyone think I'm a moderator?
