By the way.

Is kylo happy to see those dice?

I don’t think he is but I have some pals seem to think he is.

Also in the elevator to the throne room he says I’ve seen your future. I know you’ll stand with me. Is he seeing way way down the line and not just what’s about to happen next?

Is he talking about the end of the saga?

Snoke pretty clearly implies (though doesn't outright state) that he's manipulating those visions that Rey and Kylo see.

Yeah but minutes later we Snokes vision isn’t 20/20. He was blind to what was right in front of him and got really discombobulated as a result :)

Right. But those the points we're making aren't mutually exclusive. Snoke (as far as we know) isn't reading Kylo's thoughts accurately. But that has nothing to do with his ability to implant false visions in someone else's mind.

Maybe Ben was aware of what was going on, but played dumb to it. In my mind he had a plan all along to kill Snoke and lure Rey into joining him. So he knew that by letting the visions happen, that would help him with his cause all the while seeming to be easily controlled and read by Snoke.

Could be. I wouldn't that. The more they can do to amp up Kylo Ren, the better.

I got the impression Snoke was amping up what was already there, rather than implanting something wholly new. He knew Kylo was conflicted (it was openly discussed) and no doubt knew he harbored revenge fantasies. He just knew Kylo couldn't hid them, and in the end he controlled his thoughts carefully enough to mask his intent. He wasn't stronger than Snoke, but he was smarter.

That's how I read that as well.

That would be pretty cool, minus the whole everything being CGI thing.

«the real appeal of Star Wars nevertheless lies in the main Skywalker story, and it would be foolish to simply cut it off.» Difficult without any Skywalkers.

Post subject:  Re: Star Wars: Episode IX (2019)

That's another reason why it was important to transition away from the Skywalkers. I think it is really the central narrative more than the skywalker family that matters (we shall see). So shifting to a non skywalker with one there to facilitate the change is helpful

Here's a thought - a bunch of porgs made it off Acch To and are being transplanted to god knows where in the galaxy. We've established in universe that they are too cute too eat. Without any natural predators what if they overwhelm the ecology of the galaxy, like cane toads in Australia? And then it's only a matter of time until at least some of them become self aware and then we're off to the races.

Episodes X-XII? We can make one somehow a skywalker if needed.

I hope I never see another porg, unless it’s Chewie eating one. They remind me of the even worse minions.

I think they’d need to leave a significant time before picking up X. It would need one in universe too. I don’t know if I’m even sure it will ever happen. Going back to the saga.
I think once we get Rians trilogy that’s going to be the foundation to build on from there with follow up films / trilogies

There’s a fair chance that an old republic / jedi origin movie/trilogy, will do nowhere near the success of the Skywalker saga. Which may leave Disney wanting to go back to the honey pot.

I know it would be far too confusing for casual fans -- I was having drinks with friends the other night who are already overwhelmed with how many SW movies there are right now -- but I personally love the idea of sagas.

Let Episodes 1-9 be rebranded The Skywalker Saga (just like Star Wars was re-branded "A New Hope" and all of it was re-branded with Episode numbers). Let there be a loose "trilogy" of pre-RotJ stand alone films (R1, Solo, Obi-Wan). Let Rian do his own saga that isn't dependent on Skywalkers.

There's room enough to develop all of it, I think. And to make people happy, it's easy to separate them out into neat boxes. But I see no reason why future films need Episode Numbers or Skywalkers.

Great questions!

I wonder if the title won't have a "Re" word in it (REvenge of the Sith; REturn of the Jedi). That seems like something JJ would do. But I'm excited to see what it'll be. I'm sure we're a year away from knowing though. The first TFA teaser was over a year before TFA was released. Maybe we'll get the title around Thanksgiving and a teaser for Christmas?

I bet we don't see anything for this until Thanksgiving or so.

Yep. I think they'll hold off as long as possible. Dropping a teaser in December (the month in which audiences have become accustomed to seeing new Star Warses) makes all the sense in the world to me.
