I seem to have lucked out and scrolled right to the meat of the topic: “We’re all eating Star Wars lore burritos [yes he used this term -Trag] because streaming wars. Nothing has to make sense as long as there’s a Star Wars show for your particular cultural appetite.”

Also that Star Wars has always been just stupid fun. Don’t take it too seriously (retconning etc).
I listened to a couple of podcasts recently that each circled this general idea, which I think has a merit. Basically, that pulp and absurdity has always been part of the Star Wars fabric but modern audiences prefer "gritty" to "pulpy." People (the general fanbase) adore Rogue One because it's more grounded and real and gritty and dark. They hate Rise of Skywalker because it goes full pulp without apology.
Again, there's more nuance to it, but that's the boiled down gist of the argument, and I think that's pretty on the money.
