Not sure how you want me to respond to this.

I don't by the part of your take that I bolded. That part of the take is cynical and uninteresting to me. Nothing you said is "beyond the pale" but you present it as fact and I'm not sure that's fair or accurate.

These are you opinions. They are not mine. You've made it clear that my opinions are pointless and yours are the gold standard. You deserve to be heard. You're right. This movie sucks.

Joe I would never dismiss one of your posts as cynical or uninteresting. That's the sort of thing someone says when they are trying to shutdown the conversation.

i think the ST would have benefited by having one team of writers.

Also im super glad we have this trilogy. Im also excited for upcoming trilogies and moving away from Skywalker. I think its just too dividing for star wars fans.

I wasn't dismissing your post. I was skeptical of one line of your post. I apologize if that crossed a line.

Some of you need to stop airlifting opinions from Certain YouTube Channels and passing them off as your own.

I don't watch Star Wars YouTube but I do subscribe to a half a dozen Tolkien ones. They are great.

Dime peruses youtube, twitter, and facebook and see's all the crazies on their posting and commenting. He'll get in arguments with them and then continue those arguments here with us as if he is still on those platforms.

Im working on teaching him. I have faith in him.

The Tolkien ones I watch are all about how amazing the stories are and I would be annoyed if someone was talking shit so I should be more understanding in this thread.

Each one of the ST films is flawed, sometimes deeply so. They would have greatly benefited from a cohesive vision/roadmap from the jump.

TLJ seems to be the only that is interested in saying anything new. It's no surprise to me that people were incredibly disappointed by it. Continuing the original characters' story is a heavy lift that is compounded by personal drama, decades of fanfic and dreaming, and corporate desires.

What does surprise me is how many people either miss the point or fail to even consider the likelihood of Luke's arc in TLJ. It's really one of the only ways they could have moved forward with the fall and eventual return of the Jedi.

It’s like none of you have ever seen return of the Jedi.

Every one of your takes can be levelled at TROS in much the same way.
It’s even dumber given it’s all part of Luke’s ‘plan.’

OT films get given such weird passes owing to our blind spots for them.

Star Wars was never bad, but if the goodies don't have flaws, it isn't a good film. I don't think Lucas ever wanted us to put the characters on some sort of pedestal, even if the films were going to be as good as they were. What Luke said in episode 8 about the Jedi failing, is the truth that hurts many people.

I think the OT was lightning in a bottle and SW gets mediocre as you add on to its universe
