The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I think there are myriad more compelling options. But I won't be even slightly surprised if that ends up being the case. It kinda feels like the most obvious thing. Which is one of the reasons why I'm hoping for something different.

But, again, it's all about execution.
We know daisy has the chops to bring it to such a scene. Russell I know nothin about.
As you said though, it’s all about the writing and how it’s deluvered. It can’t be saccharine. Tears and hugs fine. Id expect to see Rey immediately distraught and almost angry ‘why did you leave me?’ Or some form of that.

I'd be alright if Luke didn't really die, but rather he teleported to somewhere. Couldn't Luke teleport in the old EU? Also fine if he's a force ghost, which is of course the most likely scenario.
I would like an answer involving her background that is different from what Kylo indicated in TLJ. She is a vital part of this trilogy, concluding the nine part saga.
If we are left with just good vs evil, it feels hollow.

It would be stupid in away but if him and Ahsoka were teaching Rey or whatever it would be awesome. We would know. Joe public wouldn’t. Unless it was handled deftly and succinctly.
Fact is though, you can’t introduce characters to play that’s important a role in the final act. Nit unless you have other mediums like books and comics running in tandem to explain their stories and how they came to be there
