The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Thanks he could well drop the ball and make a disaster out of it. Meaning JJ. But he won’t. I just want the end of the story. And hopefully we get to move on to new stories and new eras. It’s an entire galaxy. Let’s go out there at any point in time.
My biggest fear is they overreact to the backlash against the Last Jedi and make a safe, predictable conclusion to the trilogy.
This is my biggest concern. Im not sure i trust JJ in this regard though i do trust he'll make a very entertaining movie.

They handed in their script to iger the day TLJ was released so there was no fan reaction to infect it. We always forget JJ was executive producer on TLJ even before he signed back on to direct and write IX. So none of that will be a concern.

I dont think it will a safe movie. Ill be different from TLJ basically because jj is a different filmmaker. But im sure it will be even better than TLJ.

I hope so. It seems like it can go in a bunch of different directions.
It will be safer in terms that it wont make those awful jokes ( the iron in TLJ) or mess with ideas he had in TFA. But its going to close this thing, so there will be lots of surprises.
I had a discussion the other day about this: the moment with Luke and Leia where Luke tells her that no one is really gone could hint at a possible Kylo redemption. And we all know Rey is really into the dark side as well so...it could be amazing if at the end they revert these roles. Kylo goes to the light and Rey finally goes to the dark side.

Rey is the mystery In all this. We know what every other character will be doing. Involved in the rebellion. What’s she doing? Has she gone off alone to study? Is she just working repairing rebel ships from scraps cos she’s good at that?

She’s an unknown quantity in this last one
I hope she goes full on Jedi Knight. I'm dying for some epic Jedi stuff.

I can’t see it playing out that she’s the one to kill him. Against the Jedi way for one. But she has empathy for him too.

That would be an amazing turn.
they wont do that in the third movie but rey will be involved in his redemption (and he may save her in the process). luke’s other line to leia is ‘I cant save him’ not ‘he cant be saved’

Rey or Leia are the keys to his redemption. It’ll have to be self sacrifice in some form though. Wouldn’t it? That’ll open up the gates of complaint that it’s just ROTJ redux but I’d be up for it. If it mirrors Vader / Anakins redemption in any way it’ll make sense. Star Wars is all about redemption and echoes of itself.

If he ends up redeemed, I’m thru with Star Wars.
why? that's a central star wars trope, and the central conflict within him has been one of the most important narrative thru-lines (and one of the best developed)
