Boba Fett (2020ish)

Fri January 27, 2017 8:14 pm

I hate even the idea of this. But it's being mentioned far too often to be ignored.

Let's talk about how this movie could work. Bearing in mind it'll be a PG13 and the character is really really divisive.

I really don't think they'll make the third standalone film about a character after just releasing the previous film about another character, meaning Han.

Thoughts?

With a good director on board, I'm all in. I think it could be great.

Will this be an early years movie or after he uses his jet pack to fly out of that big worm movie?

It's sort of a tabula rasa situation. Boba Fett is nothing more than an amazing character design with some very malleable backstory. This movie could really be anything they want it to be. The tricky part will be humanizing a faceless assassin. But if it's done well, I'm totally on board.

I say this having almost no knowledge of the EU, however.

They wouldn't make a film about Han then follow with a film about one of his enemies. Or would they??

Only way I wanna see a boba movie is if it includes Vader hiring Fett to find out who the kid was that blew up the Death Star.
They did it in the comics and it was AWESOME!! It's canon that Vader finds out the kid is named Skywalker and in that moment he realises he had a son and Obi Wan hid him. He's furious and breaks shit.

This could actually be an awesome film if that was part of the story.

The appeal of Boba was always his outfit for me. Once I saw tons of people in similar outfits in TCW, etc, it really lost the appeal.

Stupid and pointless. Yes, the right director, and more importantly the right script, could make a damn fine Boba Fett film. And I believe it's coming. But Christ I just don't care.

I've never seen such a large fandom take one of its most popular characters and turn on it so badly in a long time. He's far more loathed than loved.

Well.. not since pearl jam released backspacer maybe

It's the prequels, dime. It's really pretty simple.

I think any character with the right director and story could be worth watching and a nice piece to the universe. And I say this as a long standing Boba hater.

I totally agree with you. And I'm not a long time Boba hater.

A great director, Terrance Malick, sure made a couple of really shitty movies in a row, because he had no script.

That is not why those movies are shitty. It's because he's a shitty filmmaker now.

I'd rather have the Kenobi film.

The coolest thing about a boba fett film could be the exploration of the bounty hunter culture. It's been arguably the best part of clone wars, and has produced two great characters (three if you count Hando)

What's the prequels?

No one but you counts Hando. Hando is terrible.

But I do think a "Bounty Hunter" film is more interesting (on its face) than a Boba Fett film. Both could be interesting, yes. But it just comes down to stories we want to have told. And I, as one individual person that Lucasfilm doesn't give a shit about, don't want that story. I don't need it. Boba Fett is fine. But I'm far more interested in other stories. Personally.
