Joey of you read Tarkin and especially bloodline you kinda have all you need. None of the rest are near as good. Tarkin was a let down. Though saying that it seems to be first in a series. The entire ending is wide open. So it might become amazing in the second part.

I need to get back on reading these. Do you think Tarkin and Bloodline are better than New Dawn and Dark Disciple?

Sorry I meant Thrawn was a bit of a letdown. Tarkin I loved. And lords of the sith.

It's pretty obvious Thrawn has more books coming. So I'll wait before I write it off completely.

Really liked Dark Disciple. Never read new dawn.

So many of the new star wars books sound unnecessary and don't add anything substantial to the overall story world. Maybe one will come along that will grab me.

The old Thrawn trilogy books were amazing. It's probably not fair to compare them. Man I sound old and jaded. I'll see myself out.

If you like/watch Clone Wars or Rebels, there are some that absolutely add to the story world.

I've heard/read many reviews that tell me that these books add a lot actually. That's the only reason I care & want to read them.

i bought bloodline awhile back, but haven't even made it out of the first chapter. things like an arrested development re-watch and twin peaks have gotten in the way.

The new canon books do add a lot. It's just down to how invested you are or interested you are. You could not read any of them and get by. But once TLJ is out and the second wave of books start emerging that's where it's going to really start developing and deepening the story of the film and filling out the background details and reasons

I guess I have a disagreement about what constitutes a substantial narrative arc in a fictional world.

You may be right about the second wave.

I've read a few of the new novels. I can't agree with dime either. Nothing adds "a lot."

I mean, a book like this one gives you a lot of information about the Falcon. None of it matters.

There's no toilet on the falcon. The more you know.

Will do. All I know is I think the cover looks cool and it takes place between New Hope and Empire.

Yes official cannon. Well that's what wiki says anyways.
