It’s literally in the film

Yoda says he doesn’t want to train him.

He then later says there is another.

That’s why obi wan says that boy is our last hope.

This isn’t difficult, lads

Stay off YouTube.

I think it probably depends on what "that boy is our only hope" means. Based on the rest of the conversation, it's not unreasonable to think he means "hope of defeating Vader." If that's what he means, I don't mind him not thinking of Leia. She's got other shit to deal with.

You’re also all forgetting she’s met Vader several times by a new hope and he picks up no force sensitivity in her at all. Whereas he does when trying to shoot down Luke’s x wing by the end and has no idea who he is.

I'm certainly not forgetting that at all.

I know pal.

Another great argument for ignoring the books.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect people to read the books. The movies and TV shows should make sense without them.

Currently, 101 books, not counting comics.

Even if we pretend that anyone could know all the boring ass shit in those books, Yoda and Obi-Wan discussing the twins for years leading up to ESB still doesn't explain those two lines.

At best, it would have been,

"That boy is our only hope."
"Jesus, how many times do I have to tell you that Leia is a viable candidate."

The lines are dumb now. Laugh it off and move on to Return of the Jedi. Trying to twist yourself in pretzels to defend it just makes you look like drooling Leia sex doll fuck boi.

I don't think that's unreasonable. And so far I'd say Disney/Lucasfilm agree, too. I've yet to see anything in the movies or TV shows that requires one to read the books/comics/etc. But there are things that are enhanced for those that have.

You don’t need the books to understand the movies cmon. The books also try to fill the holes and gaps the movies have.

I know Jar Jar was in Aftermath, but I was asking about him being on one of these shows

A few years ago I'd have said there's no chance. But now I think there's a pretty good (better than 50/50) chance that we'll see him again in one of these live action shows.

From an interview with Stuart Beattie:

Quote:
“I wrote the film that they based the show on. So, yeah. I spent like a year, year-and-a-half working on it. And then, when the decision was made not to make any more spin-off films after ‘Solo’ came out, I left the project and went on to other things. Joby [Harold, head writer] came on and took my scripts and turned it from two hours into six. So, I did not work with them at all, I just got credit for the episodes because it was all my stuff.”

Quote:
"So when I pitched my Obi-Wan story to Lucasfilm, I said, 'There's actually three stories here. Because there are three different evolutions that the character has to make in order to go from Obi-Wan to Ben.' And the first one was the first movie, which was the show, which was, 'Surrender to the will of the Force. Transport your will, surrender your will. Leave the kid alone.'”

Quote:
“Probably the most powerful moment in all of Obi-Wan's story is that moment where he sacrifices himself in A New Hope. Great moment, you know, makes you cry. But, if you stop and think about it, it's a pretty sudden thing, to just kind of go be fighting a guy, to see Luke and go, 'I'm gonna die.' You know, that to me, that required forethought. That required pre-acceptance that this was going to happen. (...) So, that was the second step of the evolution for me, that Obi-Wan now has to come to terms with his own mortality, somehow in a prophecy, or Qui-Gon telling him, 'There's going to come a moment where you're gonna have to sacrifice yourself for the good,' And then [Obi-Wan] is like, 'What? No, no, no, no, I'm here to help... I can't, no.' And get him to that point where Obi Wan has accepted the idea that he's going to die, and that he's going to die willingly at a crucial moment, and you will know when that moment presents itself.”

I think the chances are way closer to 100% because someone, somewhere with enough pull is going to have the poisonous thought, "I want to redeem Jar Jar Binks."

And I'll add: instead of going to see their therapist after having this thought, they are going to write an 8-episode miniseries.

Obi Wan's mouth: "You're ten years old, but you won't always be."

Obi Wan's brain:

Spoiler: show
