The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
You guys have said this about seriously every standalone so far
Rogue One is the perfect subject for a stand alone. I'm super pumped about it. I am far less interested in any stand alone film based on characters we already know from the saga movies.
The one exception, for me, and I'm speaking only for myself, is Obi-Wan. I adore that character and there is so much about him we don't know that I would love to see explored. If this thing is happening, I'm excited about it.
I am not excited about Han Solo. Or a Boba Fett stand alone. Or a Yoda stand alone. Or a Mon Mothma stand alone. Don't care.
My hope is that they'll get back to more interesting and saga-adjacent films like Rogue One before they finally grow the balls to go way way way back and give us some Old Republic movies.
Now a General Grievous stand alone on the other hand... amirite?!
I know that would make you happy. And for that reason alone, I'm all for it!
But I don't know much about the character. He didn't make much of an impression on me in prequels. So, I'll defer to you, friend. If you're telling me he's cool and there's a lot to explore there, I'm all in.
Guys, I am not a moderator! I swear to God! Why does everyone think I'm a moderator?

Well not that anyone would read it, but he has a pretty interesting history.

How much of that is shown in the Clone Wars series?
None of his story before he became mostly robot. He is all robot in Clone Wars. I think his story in his tribal days pre light saber skills and pre robot would be cool. Plus, in Clone Wars, he is mostly trained already in light saber/jedi fighting, so his training would be interesting too.

Totally agree. I would actually love to see a pre-Clone Wars/pre-cyborg Grievous movie. That could be really badass. And that should be the point of these spinoffs. To acquaint us with characters and stories we're unfamiliar with or only peripherally familiar with.

The thing Grievous has against him is that most people only know him from the prequels and everyone hated the prequels so they don't care about characters from there.

These movies (stand alones) would be a great opportunity to explore the things that are fascinating and cool about the prequels and those things up and expand on them. If they can continue to create great stories surrounding the prequels, they could potentially make the prequels more interesting in and of themselves (as stories, if not as movies).
If Mcgregror is not in this. Then there is no fucking point. there is a great book that was made for teens about what he did in between. He definately left tattooine at some point and came back.
