A scene with Vader is a bonus for any SW movie.

It made sense in the context of Rogue One, but I don't think it works here. These standalone movies should expand the scope of the galaxy with new characters through the lens of one or two familiar characters. They will start to feel like a tired SNL sketch if they keep dragging out 3PO/Vader/etc.

Not really though. Vader went from that guy in the hallway to a few days later fighting Kenobi and looking like Brady running out of the pocket. Did he sprain something in the days between?

I’m not saying he should be the centre of the movie, or even do the look at Han that Dime mentioned. But that he’s close to the major action makes sense. Arriving on a planet that Han is escaping from, or something like that.

I know you're not asking me, but I always thought Vader looked stupid. His costume is super hokey and clunky and clumsy. But having said that, I still enjoy Vader and I'd love to see him in Solo. Like you said, not necessarily affecting the action, but present. I think that makes sense.

Vader was taking it easy on Old Ben in that fight. Also retcon.

THeres precedent all over Rebels and comics that have him in the field and on active duty of all kinds. At this time
I don’t think he should or will be in Solo

Unless the heist Han and chewie are pulling is robbing that train of a giant kyber crystal inside for sale on the black market. And we either see Vader ordering them hunted down or doing it himself

This isn’t totally unlikely as the empire are working on the DS at this point. It doesn’t have to be mentioned especially not shown. But it would tie across to rogue one nicely. By the end of the film it May even be happening same time as rogue one. (There’s reported time jumps in Solo)

There is also some non-film canon material that helps explain that when Vader exerts him self or expends a lot of energy, he has to sort of recharge. This is what the Bacta Tank is for. So it stands to reason that the fight in the hallway took a lot out of him and by the time he faces Obi-Wan, he's can't expend as much energy.

They looked like what they were: two old men having a stick fight.

Both good points.

All evidence from the movies and beyond point to fairly similar aging (for humans).

THERe is something mentioned about the dark side corrupting and burning out the body of its user at an accelerated rate. Not sure if it’s still canon. Think it is.
