Rogue One enhanced ANH? I'm not a Rogue One hater, but I don't know that I find ANH more enjoyable since we got that movie.

Well, because ANH threw is straight into the thick of a space battle, with little info about what lead to that event.

Rogue One allowed us to see the slow and meandering build up to that moment.

Isn't that what Eps 1-3 did?

No. Big gap in time between 3 and 4.

That's odd. I'm not a huge rogue one fan by any stretch but I do think it enhances ANH in many ways.

Right, but the argument was that R1 enhanced episode 4, not 1-3.

... by closing the gap btw 3 and 4. I'm arguing that R1 did little in that regard.

You could argue that it explained the plot hole of why the Death Star was so easy to destroy, but really ... people loved Star Wars for 40 years without caring about that plot hole until the Internet came along.

I think what dime and everyone else is saying is that R1 enhanced Episode 4, not by closing a gap between 3 and 4, but by showing how those plans came into the hands of the Rebels in the first place. No one else here was arguing that R1 closed the gap between 3 and 4.

I'll give you/them this. Rogue One was a story that didn't need telling, but when told, was fun and didn't ruin ANH. This gives me faith in Solo.

The thing that is different is Solo is taking one of THE iconic characters from the OT and TFA, and having him portrayed by another actor. R1 didn't really do any of this. Some people like consistency with popular characters. It worked for Obi-wan with the prequels, but he wasn't nearly as prevalent a character as Han was in the OT.

Quit arguing with me. You've convinced me to give this movie some rope.

I'm not arguing! I'm sharing my concerns! I'm greatly concerned that this movie is going to suck!

I'm expecting The worst but hoping for the best. It's set ten years before a new hope so that gives the actor some room. It's all hanging on him. I've pretty much no doubt that the film could be fantastic but if he's not right? It's all fucked.

That's an older pic, too. We've seen that one already. Like right after Howard took over.
