I agree with Dime in the notion of TLJ being a more complex movie. Even if you dont like the script, there is a lot more going on. But that doesnt make Solo a lesser movie, that might be its strength, to actually achieve the fun in a series that got very serious in its prequels and sequels.

Heading lots of people all over the place saying the film was really dark and hard to see what was going on. I had this too and on rogue one.
Anyone here have that happen?
I was going to mention this, but yeah, it was very dark, especially in the first half. I had a hard time seeing what was happening. I didn't know if it was the movie or if I'm just going blind.

The highs of TLJ are some of the very best Star Wars ever, but the lows are atrocious
Genuinely curious as to what to you consider the highs
Kylo Ren is the best thing to come out of SW, and the throne room scene was great. Also loved Luke's ending. And like Burt said, much of the imagery. But this is like 10% of the movie.

The BEST thing? Like, you mean in ALL of SW?
My disappointment with the throne room sequence is well-documented.
God I hated Luke’s ending so much. What a wet fart or nothing.

When you hear that. And then balance against the film itself and Ron Howard coming in and making that film at pretty much the 11th hour it’s bizarre to me.
Obviously the headlines are gonna blame the last Jedi. And have been. But this is all very planned.
Within 6 months Star Wars get the film it needed to keep it vital and interesting. Then We all got the Star Wars film we wanted. Just a fun romp with feels.
It’s being loved and adored on all my Star Wars feeds. All of them. Star Wars fans are on board for this. General public isn’t? Give it a while.
Hard take away from this is that they should have Fucking gone with the Obi wan film first.
We would be seeing very different results and headlines had they done that.
