“There are five Star Wars films - four more with ‘Episode 7: The Force Awakens’ - that are in varying stages of development and production,“ the Disney chairman told BBC’s Newsbeat.
"There will be more after that, I don’t know how many, I don’t know how often."
The four future films in production include the two that will complete the episodic trilogy and two spin-offs.
The first of those spin-offs is Gareth Edwards’ ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, which will be released in December. One year later Rey and Finn’s story will continue in Rian Johnson’s ‘Episode 8′.
Beyond that, there’s the Han Solo prequel being directed by ‘21 Jump Street’ and ‘The Lego Movie’ directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, set for 2018, and finally Trevorrow’s trilogy-concluder in 2019.
Iger also spoke to the BBC about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which he was more confident could go on forever. “Marvel, you’re dealing with thousands and thousands of characters - that will go on forever,” he said.
